Appearance in Anime

Fubuki Shirou is most commonly seen wearing a white scarf, which is an important keepsake from his younger brother, Atsuya. The longer end of the scarf flows freely on his left side, symbolizing his deep connection with Atsuya and his ability to switch into his brother’s identity. His teal-gray eyes droop slightly, giving him a gentle appearance, while his short gray hair has spikes that point downward. His thick silver eyebrows further define his distinct look.

When Atsuya’s personality takes over, Fubuki’s eyes turn bright orange and become more slanted. His hair spikes shift upwards and appear stiffer, and his voice also adopts a rougher tone. In this state, his personality becomes noticeably more aggressive and confident, often accompanied by a smirk.

During his match against The Genesis, Fubuki discovers the true meaning of becoming perfect and merges his own identity with Atsuya’s. This transformation results in a hybrid hairstyle the front remains the same, while the back features upward spikes (Atsuya’s influence) on the higher part and downward spikes (Shirou’s influence) on the lower part. His eye shape also balances out, appearing between droopy and slanted, and he achieves a harmonious state between his two personas.

Fubuki is widely regarded as handsome, often being described as princely and charming. His popularity among girls is evident in Episode 35, where a group of girls from Manyuuji, Kyoto are drawn to him, and again in Episode 40, when female visitors at a theme park eagerly invite him to walk with them. However, Fubuki himself remains rather neutral about romantic attention, sometimes using his appeal to gather information when needed.

Regarding attire, Fubuki is mostly seen wearing his Raimon or Hakuren uniform or jersey. His casual clothing, shown briefly in Episode 85, consists of a light yellow-green T-shirt and black shorts. As a child, he wore a blue and white jacket with dark blue trousers, and his hair had a slightly more upward spike.

In Inazuma Eleven GO, Fubuki’s hairstyle changes slightly, with his spikes pointing a bit more upward. His outfit consists of a blue jacket with a white hoodie, featuring two yellow lines on the left shoulder, resembling a captain’s mark. Underneath, he wears a white shirt with a green emblem resembling Hakuren’s symbol, along with green pants and brown shoes.

In the alternate timeline of Inazuma Eleven Ares no Tenbin, Fubuki’s hair color is changed to a frosted periwinkle. His casual attire includes navy-white sneakers, light gray socks, gray short trousers, a white hoodie, and a sports blue jacket with white sleeves and blue stripes at the bottom.

Personality

Fubuki Shirou is a timid yet gentle individual who is deeply kind toward others. Despite his reserved nature, he is an earnest and helpful teammate, always willing to assist when needed. When first introduced in Season 2, he is noticeably shy and harbors a deep fear of loud noises, particularly sounds resembling an avalanche, which trigger intense anxiety and panic due to past trauma.

Fubuki is also obsessed with perfection, striving to embody both himself and his younger brother, Atsuya, in their defender forward combination despite being a single person. This fixation likely stems from the praise they received as an exceptional duo, leading him to continue chasing that ideal. His greatest fear is being left alone, which is why he clings to Atsuya’s scarf an item that allows him to mentally shift into Atsuya’s identity.

When Atsuya’s personality takes over, Fubuki undergoes a noticeable transformation his appearance changes, his attitude becomes aggressive, and his self-determination increases. Under Atsuya’s influence, he adopts a menacing, independent mindset, prioritizing victory over teamwork and attempting to score all goals alone, believing that relying on others will lead to failure. However, as Fubuki gradually merges with Atsuya’s persona, he comes to accept both halves of himself, allowing him to unlock a new shooting technique. His hairstyle also subtly changes, though not as drastically as when Atsuya was fully dominant.

By the time of the Football Frontier International (FFI), Fubuki has grown significantly in confidence. He no longer fixates on becoming perfect and instead embraces his own strengths and abilities. His newfound courage makes him more assertive and willing to speak up, reflecting his character development since Season 2.

Fubuki also exhibits natural charm, particularly with girls. He has a princely appeal that allows him to effortlessly gather information beneficial to the team. However, in Episode 50, he is shown to be uncomfortable with certain types of attention, indicating that while he can use his charisma when necessary, he does not actively seek romantic admiration.

In Inazuma Eleven Ares no Tenbin, due to Atsuya being alive in this timeline, Fubuki no longer experiences the inner conflict and psychological struggles that once defined him. However, this version of Shirou develops a colder personality and exhibits overconfidence in his abilities, leading his teammates to greatly admire him while also recognizing his change in attitude. With Atsuya alive, Shirou takes on a protective role toward him, allowing Atsuya to act more arrogantly and aggressively, without facing any pushback from their captain.

Background

Fubuki Shirou once played alongside his twin brother, Fubuki Atsuya, as part of their Junior Team, forming a perfect defender-forward combination. Their strategy was seamless, Shirou would steal the ball, while Atsuya would score the goals, making them a formidable duo in both offense and defense. Their teamwork earned them recognition for their exceptional coordination on the field.

However, tragedy struck one day when their father was driving them home from a victorious match. As they traveled through the snowy terrain, an avalanche suddenly struck, colliding with their car. In a desperate attempt to save him, Fubuki was pushed out of the vehicle just in time, but his entire family his parents and Atsuya perished in the accident.

The incident left deep emotional scars on Fubuki, leading to a morbid fear of avalanche-like sounds. The noises of falling snow, thunder, or loud bangs trigger intense anxiety and distress, as they remind him of the tragedy that took away his family. In response to this trauma, Fubuki began to internalize Atsuya’s identity, keeping his brother’s presence alive within him. This psychological coping mechanism allowed him to mentally switch into Atsuya’s persona, ensuring that his brother’s spirit remained a part of him both on and off the field.
