Appearance
Franky is a tall, heavily muscled man standing at over seven feet in height, making him the third-tallest member of theStraw Hat Pirates, afterJinbeandBrook. He has a unique, heavily modified cyborg body due to the extensive self-repairs he performed on himself after a severe accident. His forearms are unusually large compared to his smaller biceps, and his chest is broad with defined abs and pectoral muscles. He sports blue hair and matching blue star tattoos on his forearms.
Franky’s most recognizable features include his long, sharp eyebrows, angular chin, and a large metal nose with rivets. His iron nose and modified chin were results of the injuries he sustained before turning himself into a cyborg.Sun Pirates, Jinbe’s hair was shorter, and he kept his chin clean-shaven. Over time, his chin hair grew, and his hairstyle became more traditional. Like most fish-men, Jinbe has webbed hands and feet, and his limbs appear thin compared to his massive torso. His gills, pale and pinkish in color, are located between his shoulders and neck.
He typically wears swim briefs and open Hawaiian shirts, often leading others to call him a “pervert” due to his lack of clothing. He also wears a large golden chain necklace. Franky prefers not to wear pants or shoes, as they interfere with his cyborg abilities. Long sleeves, buttoned shirts, or shoes would restrict access to his built-in weapons and features. His back remains his only vulnerable area, which he keeps covered by wearing a shirt.
During theWater 7 Arc, Franky wore a disguise, including a mask and red Hawaiian shirt with green palm tree designs, to buy materials for building ships. Over time, his shirt colors changed, including a yellow shirt in theThriller Bark Arcand a purple one during theSabaody Archipelago Arc.
After being severely injured during his time onBaldimore, Franky’s face and upper body were burned, exposing his metal skeleton. He covered his body with a tiger skin rug to avoid scaring others. Franky also frequently dons sunglasses during serious moments.
Personality and Traits

Franky’s wanted poster, featuring a striking image of the cyborg shipwright, showcases his notorious reputation in the world of One Piece, with a bounty of 44 million berries, a ament to his daring adventures and mischief.
Franky is an eccentric and free-spirited individual who often displays exhibitionist tendencies. He proudly embraces his quirky nature and frequently declares himself a “pervert” without shame. He is known for his energetic and loud personality, often punctuated by his catchphrase “SUPER!” accompanied by a signature pose. Despite his unusual behavior, Franky is deeply loyal and protective of his friends and crewmates, always ready to defend them. His self-confidence and pride in his cyborg body and inventions are notable, as he often praises himself for his brilliance.
Franky’s eccentricities are balanced by his mature and dependable nature, making him one of the most reliable members of theStraw Hat Pirates. He is particularly empathetic, often moved to tears when hearing touching stories, though he attempts to hide his emotions by denying his tears. His sense of justice is strong, and he believes that no one should be judged or harmed based on their background or nature.
Franky’s personality can shift depending on what beverage he drinks. When drinking cola, he returns to his usual lively self, while drinking tea or juice can make him relaxed or health-conscious. He also has a running gag of being connected to “perverted” situations due to his attire and mannerisms. Despite these traits, he has little genuine interest in romantic pursuits and often acts indifferent to beautiful women.
Franky is passionate about his creations, particularly theThousand Sunnyand other inventions. He is fiercely protective of them and becomes enraged if they are damaged or disrespected. He is also fascinated by childlike concepts such as transforming robots and superheroes, often indulging in exaggerated, dramatic displays that amuse younger crew members likeLuffy,Chopper, andUsopp.
Though Franky enjoys showing off and building powerful creations, he has no interest in gaining Devil Fruit powers, preferring to maintain his ability to swim. His pride as a cyborg and shipwright is deeply tied to his work and the lessons learned from his mentorTom.
