Eve (イヴ, Ivu), is one of the main characters in Black Cat, a genetically engineered bio-weapon with nanomachine-enhanced abilities. Initially created as a living weapon, Eve was raised in isolation and trained for combat, knowing nothing of human emotions or normal life. However, after meeting Sven Vollfied, she begins to develop her own identity, ultimately choosing to join him and Train Heartnet as a sweeper, hunting criminals for bounties.
Though she appears calm and emotionless at first, Eve gradually learns to express herself, forming deep bonds with her new companions. Despite her young age and delicate appearance, she is one of the most powerful characters in the series, capable of transforming her body into weapons, adapting to different battle scenarios, and regenerating from injuries quickly.
Background

Appearance in anime
Eve was created in a secret laboratory as a bio-weapon, infused with nanomachines that give her superhuman abilities. She was raised in complete isolation, treated as nothing more than a tool for destruction rather than a person. Her entire existence revolved around combat training, scientific experimentation, and being used as a weapon by those who sought power.
She was later taken under the control of Torneo Rudman, a wealthy crime lord who planned to exploit her abilities for his own gain. Under his rule, she remained emotionless and obedient, lacking any concept of free will, kindness, or normal human interaction.
However, her life changed drastically when she encountered Sven Vollfied, a bounty hunter who saw her not as a weapon, but as a child in need of protection. Sven refused to let her be used as a tool, choosing instead to rescue her from Torneo’s control. Despite her initial confusion about his actions, Eve eventually realized she had the power to make her own choices.
With Sven acting as her guardian, Eve joined him and Train Heartnet as a sweeper, using her abilities to help people rather than harm them.
Appearance
Eve has long, golden-blonde hair and large violet eyes, giving her a doll-like and ethereal appearance. She is small and slender, resembling a fragile young girl, but her innocent appearance contrasts sharply with her immense combat capabilities.
She typically wears a simple blue dress with white frills, reflecting her childlike innocence despite her dark origins. However, in battle, she becomes fierce and highly adaptive, transforming her body into various weapons to suit the situation.
Personality
Eve begins as emotionless, quiet, and highly analytical, due to her upbringing as a weapon. She struggles to understand emotions, human relationships, and concepts of free will, as she was never given a choice in her life before meeting Sven. She initially views herself as a tool for destruction, believing that she has no identity beyond being a weapon.
However, as she spends time with Sven and Train, Eve gradually develops her own personality, showing signs of curiosity, humor, and even mischief. She becomes more expressive, learning to value friendships, freedom, and the ability to make her own choices. Though she still retains her calm and reserved nature, she begins to display protectiveness toward her newfound friends, particularly Sven, whom she views as a father figure.
Despite her gentle demeanor, Eve is fierce in battle, showing no hesitation in using her abilities to protect those she cares about. Over time, she begins to reject the idea that she is just a weapon, striving instead to become her own person, proving that she is more than what she was created to be.

Protecting Sven and Train
Despite Sven acting as her guardian, Eve often protects him in battle, demonstrating her fierce loyalty and determination. She also grows attached to Train, viewing him as an older brother figure, even though she often teases and competes with him.
Relationships
Sven Vollfied
Sven is Eve’s closest companion and father figure. He treats her not as a weapon, but as a normal girl, giving her the freedom to make her own choices. Eve deeply admires and respects Sven, following him wherever he goes and doing her best to protect him when he’s in danger. Their bond is one of the most heartwarming aspects of the series.
Train Heartnet
Train and Eve share a sibling-like relationship, with Eve often competing with Train in playful banter. She sometimes acts smug and teases him, but deep down, she cares for him and wants to be acknowledged as an equal fighter. Train, in turn, treats her like a little sister, occasionally ruffling her hair or teasing her in return.
Rinslet Walker
Rinslet initially sees Eve as a strange and unnatural child, but as they spend more time together, she acknowledges Eve’s strength and intelligence. Though they don’t interact much, Rinslet respects Eve’s determination to carve out her own identity.
Creed Diskenth
Creed sees Eve as a nuisance and occasionally tries to manipulate her. However, Eve refuses to be swayed by him, proving that she is not a tool to be controlled.
