Ellenor Ljos Alf

Ellenor Ljos Alf (エルノール・リヨス・アールヴ, Erunōru Riyosu Āruvu) is a member of the Magia Vander, an elite group of magic users, and hails from the Fairy Faction: Elleaf Canaan. She was once the foster sister of Wignall Lindor before their eventual separation. As a distinguished figure within her faction, Ellenor plays a significant role in the realm of magic, embodying the unique traits and abilities associated with the fairy lineage.

Personality

Appearance in Anime

As an Elf, Ellenor Ljos Alf holds a strong sense of superiority over those who cannot use magic, particularly dwarves, whom she openly looks down upon. Her elitist mindset extends to her interactions with others, as seen in her disdain for Zeo, whom she finds irritating, especially when he criticizes her stubbornness. She refers to him dismissively as a “lightning barbarian.”

Ellenor’s exclusivist views are further emphasized when she rejects Iris’ recommendation to induct Will into the Upper Academy, arguing against the inclusion of more so-called “inferior people” around her. However, despite her prejudices, she remains deeply concerned about the growing threat of the Heavenly Invaders and the lack of skilled mages available to combat them, demonstrating a pragmatic side to her beliefs.

Her past relationship with Wignall Lindor is particularly complex. Though she was once friendly with him as a child, she has since distanced herself, dismissing him as “an embarrassment to the Elves.” However, her reaction when Wignall overcomes his fear of failure suggests that her words may not reflect her true feelings, as she appears to smile in response to his growth.

Ellenor also possesses a strong competitive streak, frequently engaging in confrontations with Elfaria and consistently seeking to challenge her. However, she is also a sore loser, holding resentment after losing a magic contest against her, which highlights her prideful and ambitious nature.

Appearance

Ellenor Ljos Alf has long green hair, which she keeps tied in a ponytail behind her head. Her attire consists of a form-fitting outfit that extends down to her thighs, paired with knee-high boots, armbands, and a cape, giving her an elegant yet battle-ready appearance befitting a high-ranking mage.

As a child, her clothing was notably different, consisting of a long-sleeved shirt, a skirt, and sandals, reflecting a simpler and more traditional style before her ascension to the Magia Vander.

History

As children, Ellenor Ljos Alf and Wignall Lindor lived together as foster siblings. However, after demonstrating exceptional magical ability, Ellenor was taken away by those affiliated with the High Elves, effectively severing their bond.

She later reunited with Wignall under unknown circumstances, but their encounter ended in violence—before departing for Mercedes Caulis, Ellenor cut off Wignall’s arm, further solidifying the rift between them.

Following her rise as a Magia Vander, Ellenor engaged in a magic duel against Elfaria Albis Serfort. Despite her formidable abilities, she ultimately lost the battle. However, her defeat was largely due to the nature of the fight, as they clashed using ice magic, a field in which Elfaria specialized.

Abilities and Equipment

As one of the Magia Vander, Ellenor Ljos Alf is an exceptionally skilled and powerful mage, possessing immense magical abilities that set her apart from ordinary spellcasters. Her status as a High Elf grants her unparalleled magical potential, allowing her to wield advanced spells with ease. Ellenor possesses enhanced speed, enabling her to move so quickly that she can appear between Elfaria and Zeo in an instant. Additionally, her immense magic power, a trait attributed to both her High Elf lineage and her position within the Magia Vander, makes her one of the most formidable magic users of her time.

Among her abilities, Ellenor specializes in Fantasy Magic (幻想魔法, Gensō Mahō), a unique and powerful magic exclusive to Elves that allows them to manifest their fantasies into reality. Wignall has noted that Ellenor is exceptionally skilled in this art, recalling that even as a child, she was able to create the King’s Forest, summoning a massive tree through her magic. She has also demonstrated the ability to teleport using Fantasy Magic, vanishing from the Magia Vander meeting room with ease. Due to her expertise, she is considered the most powerful Fantasy Magic user alive.

In addition to her signature magic, Ellenor is also proficient in Ice Magic (氷魔法, Kōri Mahō), though she is not as skilled as Elfaria, whose mastery of the element led to Ellenor’s defeat in their magic duel. She is also capable of using Common Magic (共通魔法, Komon Majikku), a set of basic spells accessible to most magic users. One of her notable spells is Search (探知, Sāchi), which allows her to detect the presence of people or monsters within a specific radius.

Ellenor wields the Elleaf Canaan, a Fantasy Staff that serves as her primary weapon. This powerful magical artifact enhances her abilities, allowing her to unleash devastating spells in battle. With her combination of superior magic, speed, and weaponry, Ellenor stands as one of the most formidable members of the Magia Vander.

Relationships

  • Wignall Lindor – Ellenor’s former foster brother and closest companion, with whom she shares a deep yet fractured bond. Their separation remains a significant emotional wound for both.
    • Elleaf Canaan (Fairy Faction) – As one of the Magia Vander, Ellenor is a respected figure and protector within the faction, upholding its sacred traditions.
      • Other Magia Vander Members – She works alongside high-ranking mages of Elleaf Canaan, often engaging in strategic discussions and mystical preservation efforts.
        • Protagonist & Allies – Depending on the protagonist’s stance on magic, Ellenor may serve as a powerful ally or a firm opponent, challenging their understanding of magic’s true role.
          • Trivia

              • As a member of the Magia Vander, Ellenor was expected to adopt “Elleaf” as her middle name. However, she outright rejected it, dismissing it as difficult to pronounce and expressing her indifference toward human customs. This further reflects her Elven pride and disdain for traditions she deems unnecessary.
                • Additionally, Ellenor’s surname, Ljos Alf, serves as a reference to Riveria Ljos Alf, a character from DanMachi (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?), suggesting a possible homage to the powerful Elven mage from the series.
