Personality

Appearance in Anime
Elise is portrayed as a shy and reserved individual, particularly in the presence of her cousin Melida Angel. This timidness is partly rooted in the social divide between them: as a member of the branch family, Elise inherited mana at a young age, while Melida despite belonging to the main family was initially unable to manifest any. The contrast often leaves Elise feeling embarrassed on Melida’s behalf, reinforcing her quiet and modest nature.
In combat, Elise demonstrates notable confidence when wielding her mana, appearing calm and composed during battles such as the intra-school tournament. Beneath this surface, however, she is easily frightened, especially when confronted with dangerous enemies like the Lancanthrope.
Elise openly admits that she does not seek the spotlight and is content with being “second-best.” Despite this preference, she is willing to step forward when circumstances demand it, displaying both strength and determination when her abilities are truly needed.
Appearance
Elise is depicted as a petite girl with short, chin-length light blue hair, styled with small buns on either side of her head. She has vivid blue eyes that accentuate her delicate features. Elise is often shown with a calm and expressionless look, reflecting her reserved and quiet personality.
History
Elise Angel was born into the branch family of the prestigious Angel aristocratic house. From a young age, she shared a close relationship with her cousin Melida Angel, whom she affectionately calls “Lita,” expressing her desire to always see Melida as her older sister figure.
Unlike Melida, Elise awakened her ability to manipulate mana at an early age, fulfilling the expectations placed upon noble children. She inherited the Paladin class of the Holy Knight, despite being from the branch family rather than the main bloodline. Because of this, Elise was celebrated as a prodigy and repeatedly told she was destined to become a leader among nobles, a shining beacon for others to follow.
However, Elise herself does not fully embrace this role. She prefers to remain a supportive follower rather than a figurehead, reflecting her modest disposition and reluctance to stand in the spotlight.
Equipment
Paladin’s Blade
Elise wields a sword befitting her status as a Paladin-class Holy Knight. The weapon symbolizes her noble lineage and her role as a mana user of the Angel family.
Paladin-sized Sword
In combat, she primarily relies on a large, traditional Paladin sword, which complements her mana-enhanced abilities and emphasizes her strength despite her small stature.
Relationships
Rosetti Pricket
Rosetti serves as Elise’s personal tutor. While Rosetti is cheerful and outgoing, Elise is more pragmatic and reserved, creating a contrast in their personalities. Initially, Rosetti doubted her effectiveness as a teacher, worrying that her influence might make Elise ill-suited to teamwork and too withdrawn from others. Their bond strengthens after Melida and Elise are rescued from Williams Gin, culminating in a heartfelt embrace that underscores the affection between teacher and student.
Melida Angel
Elise shares a close, sister-like bond with her cousin Melida, affectionately calling her “Lita,” while Melida refers to her as “Elli.” As children, their relationship was warm and supportive, but this dynamic grew strained when Elise awakened her mana as a Paladin while Melida remained powerless. Social pressure and criticism of Melida as the “incompetent talentless girl” caused her to distance herself from Elise, fearing that their association would bring shame to the Angel name.
Despite this, Elise herself struggled to accept the disparity between them, reluctant to formally acknowledge Melida as weaker. Their strained relationship eventually began to heal after their duel during the Luna Lumiere Selection, where Melida defeated Elise using refined technique rather than raw strength. Following this reconciliation, Elise agreed to form a unit with Melida, restoring their bond and bringing them closer than before. Their reunion highlights how deeply their years of separation had affected both of them.
Kufa Vampir
Elise respects Kufa as Melida’s tutor and thanks him for fostering the renewed closeness between herself and Melida. However, she also perceives him as a rival for Melida’s affection, noting that her cousin frequently speaks fondly of him. At the Circlet Night dance, Elise openly acknowledged this rivalry. During later training sessions, she even referred to Kufa as “the Devil,” reflecting both his strict methods and her competitive feelings toward him.
