Tragically, Destiny met her untimely demise on March 5, 2017, when a tree collapsed onto her at Half Dome Village in Yosemite National Park. The accident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. when the tree struck her tent.. [4][4]

High winds and heavy snow in the park had increased the risk of falling trees.
