DeShaune Stewartis a mail carrier based in Dublin, Ohio.^[1]

At 4:25 a.m. local time on Saturday, December 23, 2017, Stewart entered the Dublin Post Office unclothed and fatally shot his direct supervisor, Lance Maurice Herrera Dempsey, aged 52.^[1]

According to a witness, Stewart fired two shots at Dempsey: one while he was standing, and another when the victim was already on the ground. Stewart subsequently fled the scene.

Stewart then fled.

He then shot a postal inspector, Ginger Ballard, at an apartment complex on Bowland Place, where he ambushed her.

Prior to the killings, Stewart had been facing dismissal from his job.

He had also been disciplined for work violations.
