DenG
Daniel Tom George, professionally known as DenG (pronounced Dench), is a renowned Liberian West African singer, songwriter, and actor. Hailing from Bong County, Liberia, DenG is proud of his heritage as a descendant of the Kpelle tribe.
Early Life
DenG is the eldest child of Pastor Henry F.K. George and Getrude C. George, with two younger sisters and a brother. At the age of 10, DenG discovered his singing talent when he joined his church choir. During the Liberian Civil War, his family migrated to Ghana, where he honed his skills by performing for locals while attending school. DenG initially pursued R&B music but transitioned to Hipco after collaborating with Emma Smith on “I Want to Go.” This shift proved successful, with hit singles like “Jue Pa Your Own Pa” featuring Liberia’s Vice-President Son Tan Tan and Queen V.
DenG’s breakthrough came with hits like “Eleh Leh” and “African Woman” featuring E-boy, establishing him as a hit-maker in the Liberian music scene. His singles “They Vex” and “A Nah Right” addressed social issues and gained widespread acclaim, even earning him a nomination for an MTV Africa Music Award (MAMA). DenG’s commitment to his music career is evident as he balances his education at the United Methodist University in Liberia while pursuing his passion for music. He aims to elevate the Liberian entertainment industry on the global stage, one step at a time. In 2015, DenG was the sole Liberian nominee in the Best New Artist category at the MTV Africa Music Awards, alongside Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo, who later won the Best International Artist at the 2015 BET Awards.
