Dee Poon
Dee Poon is a prominent Chinese businesswoman based in Hong Kong. She has been featured by CNBC, Fortune magazine, and Forbes magazine. Poon was also recognized on the Forbes list of “Women to Watch in Asia.”
Early Life and Education
Poon, the daughter of retail tycoon Dickson Poon of Harvey Nichols and the chairman of the textile and apparel-manufacturing company Esquel Group, Majorie Yang, was immersed in her parents’ factories and stores from a young age, gaining firsthand insight into the mechanics of business. Subsequently, she pursued her education at Harvard University, where she graduated in 2004 with a B.A. in Philosophy.
Career
Before going into business, Poon was a writer and film director.
She was a featured columnist at Modern Weekly as well as editor-at-large for iLook magazine.

Around 2009, Poon joined her mother at the Esquel Group as the chief brand officer of PYE, a brand dedicated to premium men’s dress shirts.
When she first joined, PYE was struggling to make a profit, but after being mentored by her mother and making smart business decisions, Poon led PYE to become a successful enterprise.
Advisory and Fellow Positions
Poon is a distinguished fellow of the Aspen Institute’s China Fellowship Program and holds positions on several influential boards, including the China Arts Foundation, Teach for China, and the Esquel – Y.L. Yang Education Foundation. Additionally, she contributes her expertise to the international councils of London’s Tate and New York’s MoMA, serves on the advisory committee of Harvard University Asia Center, and plays a crucial role on the Global Steering Committee of Social Entrepreneurship for Sexual Health.
