Crimson (クリムゾン, Kurimuzon) is the former Winged Monarch who infamously betrayed the dragons and attempted to assassinate the Dragon God. As a being who despises the very race he once ruled, Crimson has dedicated himself to the complete extermination of all dragons, including himself. To achieve this goal, he formed an alliance with Ragna, recognizing his unparalleled power and unwavering resolve as the perfect means to bring about the end of dragonkind. Though enigmatic and seemingly manipulative, Crimson’s motives remain singular and absolute—to see all dragons wiped from existence.
Background

Appearance in Anime
Long before the current events, Crimson was a powerful Dragon and a member of the elite Winged Monarchs. However, for unknown reasons, he chose to rebel against his own kind and attempted to assassinate the Dragon God. This bold coup ultimately ended in failure, leaving Crimson defeated while the fate of most of his bloodline remains unknown.
Following his failed rebellion, Crimson went into hiding, allowing the world to believe he had perished. However, rather than wallowing in defeat, he used this time to prepare meticulously, ensuring that when the opportunity arose again, he would not fail a second time. His meticulous planning, resourcefulness, and patience have made him a dangerous and unpredictable force, one willing to manipulate, deceive, and sacrifice anything in pursuit of his ultimate goal the destruction of all dragons.
Appearance
Crimson’s true appearance remains a mystery, as he frequently assumes different identities to conceal himself. However, the one consistent trait across all his disguises is his heterochromatic eyes his right eye is green, while his left eye is red and dragon-like. He usually keeps his dragon-like eye hidden beneath his long crimson hair or some form of covering to avoid drawing attention.
The identity Crimson most often uses while assisting Ragna is that of Crish Weiss, a magician or thaumaturge. In this guise, he wears a dark brown magician’s hat adorned with a golden symbol, adding to his air of mystery. His attire consists of a dark brown robe-like dress, decorated with intricate golden lines and designed to leave his upper shoulders exposed. His crimson-colored hair is a feature that remains largely unchanged across his various disguises, serving as a subtle link to his true identity.
Another distinct feature of Crimson is a tattoo pattern on his neck with an unknown meaning, further hinting at his enigmatic nature. His complexion is particularly pale, giving him an almost ethereal presence, which contrasts sharply with his calculating and manipulative personality.
Personality
Crimson is a cunning and ruthless strategist who claims to trust no one, even when working in close collaboration with others. Always thinking several steps ahead, he meticulously plans his actions, often deceiving and manipulating those around him to achieve his goals. His vast knowledge and intellect allow him to make calculated moves, but in cases where his information is lacking, he first seeks out the necessary details either personally or through his network of servants before making a decision.
Crimson possesses no compassion for humans or dragons alike, as his morality is dictated purely by his own self-interest. His ends justify the means, and he is willing to commit any atrocity or cruelty necessary to accomplish his objectives. His preferred method of combat is psychological warfare, breaking his enemies’ spirits before engaging them physically. However, in the rare event that his intricate schemes fail entirely, he lashes out in frustration, unable to comprehend or accept his own miscalculations.
He speaks in a condescending and authoritative tone, consistently looking down on others. He is brutally honest, never mincing his words, and frequently engages in psychological and emotional torment of those who cross him. His lack of tact makes him come across as arrogant and insufferable, a fact that even Ragna himself notes though Crimson takes great pride in this perception.
Crimson is also highly secretive and manipulative, carefully withholding or distorting information to serve his own interests. He extends this strategy to his enemies, exploiting the Dragons’ pride by insulting or provoking them into reckless behavior. His tactics often involve luring opponents into traps by playing on their psychological weaknesses, ensuring he always maintains the upper hand.
Despite his overwhelming arrogance, Crimson harbors deep self-loathing. He resents his own existence and is tormented by his immortality, which he perceives as a curse rather than a blessing. His hatred for his inability to die runs so deep that when Ragna once suggested he was “cursed” due to his tragic past, Crimson furiously shot himself at point-blank range, revealing his own torment. He then chastised Ragna, declaring that his own suffering was far beyond what Ragna could ever imagine.
Powers & Abilities
Superior Dragon Physiology
As a Superior Dragon, Crimson’s body is far more resilient than that of standard dragons, making him highly resistant to most human weapons. Unlike lower dragons, he has some level of immunity to silver and sunlight, two elements that are typically deadly to his kind. Additionally, he can shift between his humanoid form and his true dragon form, significantly increasing his power and physical capabilities. Crimson also possesses the unique ability to generate countless lower and medium-class dragons from his own blood, allowing him to overwhelm his enemies with sheer numbers.
Dragon Monarch Status
Crimson was formerly recognized as one of the Dragon Monarchs, placing him among the most powerful dragons, second only to the Dragon God. As a Monarch, he wielded the Blood Ritual, a unique ability that allowed him to create and establish his own bloodline, effectively producing an army of dragons that shared his lineage and traits. This ability made him one of the most feared figures among the dragons before his betrayal.
Space-Time Magic
Crimson holds Space-Time Magic, a powerful magical expression that grants him control over the perception and flow of time. Though he rarely uses this ability offensively, he has employed it for support functions and the creation of powerful magical objects. His abilities allow him to perceive alterations in time, detect timeline inconsistencies, and most notably, move freely while time is stopped, making him almost untouchable in battle.
Sealed Nature
To protect himself and weaken his dragon attributes, Crimson sealed his own heart using Space-Time Magic. This act significantly diminished his raw dragon power but also erased his natural weaknesses to silver and sunlight, effectively making him an anomaly among dragons. By sealing away his true essence, he managed to live among humans and remain hidden from both dragon hunters and his former kin.
Pseudo-Immortality
Crimson possesses a pseudo-variant of immortality that functions similarly to cloning and memory transference. Upon death, he does not truly perish; instead, a new body is created with his previous memories implanted into it. While each clone retains Crimson’s knowledge and experiences, they may not always share the same thought process or decisions as the previous versions. This process has yet to be fully revealed, but the results have been seen throughout the series, demonstrating that Crimson is essentially impossible to kill permanently through conventional means.
Psychological Warfare
One of Crimson’s most effective and preferred strategies is psychological warfare. Through his vast understanding of human and dragon behavior, he is able to manipulate, deceive, and break the minds of his opponents. He uses both subtle and direct psychological influence, carefully studying his targets and exploiting their deepest weaknesses. When necessary, he further amplifies his influence using his magical abilities, ensuring that his enemies are left mentally vulnerable before he even engages them in battle.
Memory & Mind Manipulation
Crimson has displayed a mysterious and potent ability to manipulate memories and thoughts. He has used this power to erase or alter people’s memories, successfully keeping his true identity a secret among dragon hunters and reprogramming refugees into mindless warriors to be used in battle. His ability to brainwash individuals allows him to bend others to his will without the need for brute force.
Advanced Technological & Scientific Knowledge
Beyond his magical prowess, Crimson has also demonstrated a deep understanding of science and technology, far surpassing what most humans and dragons are capable of comprehending. He has successfully created unnatural, functional beings such as Slimes, Chimeras, and Golems, manipulating biological and magical elements to engineer new life forms. His knowledge of bio-manipulation is so advanced that he casually considered transforming Ragna into a mindless zombie, showcasing both his scientific expertise and his complete disregard for morality. Additionally, Crimson possesses a lunar base of his own creation, proving that his technological mastery extends beyond the realm of Earth.
Equipment
Poisonous Chalice
Despite appearing to be a conventional poison, the Poisonous Chalice is actually a substance infused with destructive nanomachines. Once consumed, these nanomachines induce excruciating agony before ultimately causing the victim’s death. However, its deadly effects are only triggered if the subject harbors intent to rebel against Crimson, effectively making it an absolute loyalty enforcement tool. No known living being has been able to survive its effects.
Storage Key
The Storage Key is a seemingly ordinary key that can be inserted into any functional door, transforming it into a gateway to an interdimensional storage space. It remains unknown whether multiple storage rooms exist or if different keys are required to access distinct storage spaces.
Advanced Technology
Crimson possesses an arsenal of highly advanced weaponry and gadgets that far surpass the technological level of the current era. His creations include portable radios that are vastly superior to contemporary communication devices and nanotechnology that is centuries ahead of anything currently available. Many of his weapons and tools remain a mystery, but their sheer effectiveness makes Crimson a force to be reckoned with.
The Inheritance
This is a hidden dimension concealed in the deepest and most remote part of the Royal Palace of Celesviera. Within this dimension, the user has the ability to manipulate both space and time, making it an incredibly powerful asset. The full purpose or ultimate function of The Inheritance remains unknown, as does the reason why it was left behind in the first place.
White Flashbang
An anti-dragon grenade that emits a massive explosion of stored sunlight upon detonation, making it particularly lethal to dragons. Crimson has also upgraded one of these grenades with a time-stop detection mechanism, causing it to automatically detonate the moment time is stopped, ensuring that even time-based abilities cannot protect the target from its effects.
Globe’s Void
A teleportation nexus that Crimson built during his prime years, located in a separate dimension. This structure is linked to various gates spread across the Earth and even to the Moon, allowing Crimson to move freely between locations and carry out his plans from behind the scenes. To access Globe’s Void, a specific key is required, and preparations must be made at the corresponding access gate.
Special Suicide Bullets
These are specialized bullets designed to disrupt blood flow and nullify magical power, making them extremely effective against magic users. Crimson uses them primarily to dispose of his damaged bodies, ensuring that he can continue to transfer into a fresh clone when needed. A simple graze from these bullets is enough to prevent self-enhancing magic users from regenerating their wounds, while a direct hit to the heart guarantees instant death, even for Dragon Monarchs.
