Chinatsu Hayase (早瀬 千夏, Hayase Chinatsu), is a minor supporting character in the anime and manga series Masamune-kun no Revenge. She is the daughter of Kinue Hayase and the younger sister of Masamune Makabe, currently attending middle school as a second-year student. Chinatsu is cheerful, energetic, and looks up to her older brother, often supporting him in her own way despite not fully understanding his complex schemes of revenge.
Though her screen time is limited, Chinatsu adds light-hearted and wholesome moments to the story, providing insight into Masamune’s family life and contrasting his often intense and secretive behavior.
Background

Appearance in Anime
Chinatsu lives with her mother, Kinue Hayase, and her older brother Masamune Makabe. Unlike Masamune, who was once overweight and bullied before undergoing a drastic transformation, Chinatsu has lived a more typical life. She adores her brother and is unaware of the emotional baggage he carries related to his childhood and his quest for revenge against Aki Adagaki.
Her role is largely that of a supporting family member who represents the “normal” side of Masamune’s home life one filled with sibling bonds, family dinners, and childhood innocence.
Appearance
Chinatsu is a cute and lively girl with short, light brown hair and large, expressive brown eyes. She typically wears her middle school uniform, which includes a simple skirt, blouse, and ribbon. Her style is modest and age-appropriate, often accompanied by a bright smile or excited expression.
Her youthful energy is visually contrasted with the more dramatic and mature designs of the older characters, emphasizing her position as the innocent younger sibling.
Personality
Chinatsu is cheerful, friendly, and slightly nosy, often showing curiosity about her brother’s affairs. She has a typical little sister attitude sometimes teasing, sometimes supportive but always well-meaning. She doesn’t fully grasp the details of Masamune’s complicated emotional plans but clearly cares about his happiness.
She is known for being talkative and sociable, and she isn’t afraid to speak her mind. Chinatsu provides warmth and levity in an otherwise emotionally tense series, and her playful personality helps humanize Masamune’s character outside of his obsessive revenge arc.
Role in the Story
Home Life and Support: Chinatsu mainly appears in scenes set at home, where she interacts with Masamune and Kinue. Her presence reminds the audience of Masamune’s softer, more familial side and offers breaks from the high drama of his school life.
Observing Her Brother: Though she doesn’t directly participate in Masamune’s plans, Chinatsu occasionally makes shrewd or intuitive comments that suggest she’s more aware of his feelings than she lets on. Her reactions often serve as comedic relief or heartfelt moments, especially when Masamune’s double life becomes overwhelming.
Relationships
Masamune Makabe: Chinatsu deeply admires her brother and enjoys spending time with him. She sometimes annoys him with her questions or teasing, but she is clearly proud of his transformation and wants him to succeed even if she doesn’t fully understand what he’s trying to accomplish.
Kinue Hayase: Chinatsu’s mother, who is overly doting and protective of Masamune. Chinatsu often finds her mother’s behavior over-the-top but plays along with her antics. Together, they form a close-knit, if quirky, family unit.
