Appearance in Anime

Originally a member of the Gray Wolves from the Kingdom of Saillune, Brian Roscoe and his twin brother were exiled from their village and abandoned by their mother at a young age. After arriving in the Kingdom of Sauville, the twins formed a street-performing magician duo, relying on their talents to earn a living.

During this time, Brian encountered Cordelia Gallo, a fellow performer, and the two quickly became close friends. However, their friendship was cut short when Cordelia was abducted by Albert de Blois and his followers. Brian attempted to intervene but was violently beaten during the confrontation. Despite the traumatic event, he and his brother continued their magician act and eventually began traveling across Europe.

By 1914, Brian had returned to Gray Wolf territory and played a significant role in modernizing the secluded village by providing it with electricity. His actions sparked curiosity among the villagers about the outside world, subtly influencing their perspective on isolation.

That same year, Brian collaborated with the Royal Science Academy at Beelzebub’s Skull, working alongside its president, Jupiter Roget, to stage a complex illusion as part of an ambitious engineering project. This endeavor was secretly motivated by Brian’s desire to strike back at Albert de Blois. Although he agreed to assist the Academy, they ultimately confiscated the Memento Box, a mysterious artifact Brian had retrieved from an unnamed village.

At some point, either before or after these events, Brian successfully helped Cordelia Gallo escape from captivity within the Blois mansion. However, he was unable to rescue her daughter, Victorique, who remained under Albert’s control.

Brian Roscoe is a tall and striking individual, distinguished by his long red hair and piercing gaze. His typical outfit consists of a loose-fitting white shirt often worn partially unbuttoned paired with black trousers. He is usually seen wearing a flowing black cape and a black top hat, completing his signature magician look.

Personality

While much about Brian Roscoe remains enigmatic, he is shown to possess a blunt and straightforward manner, particularly evident during his interactions with Kazuya Kujo. He strongly disapproves of Kujo referring to Victorique de Blois as a “tool,” voicing his anger during their encounter in Leviathan’s Clock Tower and later at the Phantasmagoria festival.

Both Brian Roscoes the twin brothers harbor deep affection for Cordelia Gallo, whom they admire for her strength and resilience, especially following her exile from the Gray Wolf village. Their emotional attachment to Cordelia fuels their ongoing support of her, even as they struggle with intense jealousy toward Victorique, Cordelia’s daughter and most cherished person.

One of the brothers openly admits to resenting Victorique, expressing a desire to eliminate her so that Cordelia would focus solely on them. He confesses to hating Victorique for making Cordelia cry. Despite these dark emotions, both brothers ultimately align themselves with Cordelia’s wishes, choosing to assist her in her unwavering mission to protect Victorique recognizing that this is the only way they can truly support the woman they care for.

Relationships

Cordelia Gallo
Brian Roscoe and his twin brother share a profound attachment to Cordelia Gallo. Their admiration for her began during their early encounters in Sauville, particularly drawn to her resilience and strength following her exile from the Gray Wolf village. Over time, their bond with her evolved into deep loyalty, and they supported her efforts to protect her daughter, Victorique. However, their love for Cordelia also caused internal conflict, as they struggled with jealousy over her prioritization of Victorique. Despite these feelings, both brothers ultimately respected Cordelia’s wishes and remained by her side, aiding her in secret throughout the series.

Victorique de Blois
Victorique is the daughter of Cordelia Gallo and the source of tension between her and the Roscoe twins. While Cordelia’s unwavering devotion to Victorique motivates the brothers to help protect her, one of the Roscoe twins harbored a desire to eliminate Victorique out of envy. He believed her presence caused Cordelia pain and prevented the bond he and his brother wished to have with her. Nevertheless, both brothers ultimately supported Cordelia’s mission to safeguard Victorique, setting aside their personal feelings for the sake of Cordelia’s happiness.

Kazuya Kujo
Brian Roscoe exhibits open disdain toward Kazuya Kujo, particularly when Kujo refers to Victorique as a “tool.” Their interactions are marked by Brian’s stern and disapproving attitude, underscoring his protective instincts toward both Cordelia and Victorique.

Jupiter Roget
Brian worked alongside Jupiter Roget, president of the Royal Science Academy at Beelzebub’s Skull, to stage a large-scale illusion under the guise of a scientific “feat of engineering.” Though their collaboration was part of Brian’s hidden agenda against Albert de Blois, their partnership played a pivotal role in the unfolding events surrounding the Academy and the Gray Wolves.

Trivia

    • Brian Roscoe stands at a height of 194 cm (6 feet 4 inches), making him notably tall compared to most characters in the series.
      • Although originally believed to be from the Kingdom of Saillune, it is later revealed that the Roscoe twins actually come from the Village of Seyrun, a community associated with the Gray Wolves.
      • Unlike the typical blond-haired inhabitants of Seyrun, Brian and his twin brother possess red hair, which may have contributed to their exile. Their removal from the village was attributed to having blood that was “not of the Gray Wolves,” possibly referencing their unusual appearance.
      • It is eventually revealed that Brian Roscoe is not one person, but a set of identical twins. The only consistent way to distinguish between them is their attitude toward Victorique de Blois: one refers to her as “my hated Victorique,” expressing deep resentment, while the other calls her “your beloved Victorique,” indicating a more respectful and empathetic stance aligned with Cordelia’s affection.
