He openly admits to experiencing feelings of apathy, often approaching situations with cold rationality rather than empathy. This emotional distance is reflected in his professional conduct he shows little personal interest in those he is assigned to protect, valuing them instead for their abilities or significance to the Usuba family.

In particular, Arata views Miyo Saimori primarily through the lens of her Gift, recognizing her supernatural ability as a critical asset to the family rather than focusing on her individual personality. His actions are primarily driven by duty and obligation, rather than personal sentiment.

Arata Usuba is a handsome young man with a slender, lean build and average height. He has dark green eyes and chestnut-colored hair, which is mildly wavy and kept neatly styled. His composed and refined appearance complements his polite outward persona, contributing to the calm and approachable image he projects in public.

Arata Usuba was born as the only son of the current acting head of the Usuba family and designated heir to the family’s legacy. Due to his father’s lack of a Gift, Arata was sent at a young age to live with his paternal grandfather, Yoshirou Usuba, at the main Usuba residence. There, he received training in the use of his inherited Gift. Not long after his relocation, the family’s influence and standing began to decline.

In later years, the Usuba family’s fortunes stabilized, and Arata began working as a senior negotiator for Tsuruki Trading. In addition to his primary responsibilities within the company, he occasionally accepts independent negotiation assignments from acquaintances. In his role, Arata specializes in representing clients and articulating matters they find difficult to express themselves. His work often requires extensive travel, taking him to various locations across the world.

Gift
Hallucikinesis
Arata possesses a unique Usuba family Gift known as Hallucikinesis. Like other Usuba abilities, this power is highly specialized and is designed primarily to affect the minds of other Gift-users rather than combat Grotesqueries. Hallucikinesis allows Arata to manipulate and create vivid illusions, distorting his target’s perception of reality to the point where they can no longer trust their own senses.

He can generate multiple phantoms of himself—sometimes over twenty at once—all of which move independently. He is also capable of replicating the appearances of others to further confuse his opponents. The effectiveness of this ability is demonstrated when Arata successfully defeats Kiyoka Kudou, a figure widely regarded as the strongest Gift-user of his generation.

Invisibility
In addition to his illusion-based powers, Arata is capable of rendering himself invisible, allowing him to move undetected by others.

• Barrier Technique:  Arata is skilled in the use of barrier-based techniques, allowing him to generate and manipulate force fields. He can create an expulsive barrier that forcibly repels or ejects individuals from a designated area. This technique can be used both defensively and strategically to control space during confrontations.

• Familiar Technique:  Arata also demonstrates advanced control over familiars, which he can summon and manipulate quickly for various purposes. In one instance, he creates a familiar equipped with advanced camouflage to discreetly follow the Emperor’s vehicle. In another, he dispatches a familiar marked with the Usuba family seal, sending it flying to the Special Anti-Grotesquerie Unit station to deliver an urgent warning letter highlighting both his magical versatility and his ability to act swiftly in critical situations.
