Appearance in Anime

Alicia Crystella is a tall and elegant woman, known for her refined beauty and graceful stature. She has a slender build with long limbs and a lithe frame, giving her a poised and commanding presence. Her most distinguishing feature is her long, waist-length red hair, which flows freely behind her and adds to her striking appearance.

She wears small, angular glasses, enhancing her intellectual aura. Her attire consists of lightweight armor, designed for mobility rather than heavy protection. The armor leaves her shoulders exposed and is paired with a flowing mantle, reflecting both functionality and nobility. Her armor is also form-fitting, subtly accentuating her figure, particularly around the chest, while maintaining the dignity expected of a knight.

Personality

Alicia Crystella initially presents herself as a kind, courteous, and composed individual, upholding the ideals of an Imperial Knight. She appears deeply committed to justice and the protection of the kingdom and its people, often demonstrating excellent communication skills and an acute awareness of her surroundings. Her outward behavior reflects that of a dutiful and moral aristocrat, gaining the trust of both allies and strangers alike.

However, this is merely a façade. Alicia’s true nature is far more complex and darker, she harbors a deep hatred for all known Races, including her own. She views them as weak, unsightly, and inherently flawed. In stark contrast, she holds Demonic Beings in high esteem, considering them to be beautiful, pure, and superior lifeforms. This admiration borders on reverence, and it stems largely from their ability to cause widespread destruction without restraint, a quality she deeply envies and adores.

Despite the contradiction between her public image and private beliefs, both sides of Alicia share one consistent trait: she is uncompromisingly serious. Whether upholding justice or pursuing destruction, she commits herself fully and earnestly to whatever path she follows. Her obsessive personality drives her belief that nothing should ever be left half-finished, a principle that guides her actions even as they become increasingly extreme.

Alicia is particularly captivated by Diablo, not only because of his overwhelming power, but because he claims to be a Demonic King from another world, a notion that aligns perfectly with her fascination and warped ideals.

Background

Alicia Crystella was born into a prestigious ducal household, but her noble lineage masked a deeply troubled upbringing. From a young age, she suffered under the weight of parental abuse and emotional neglect. Her parents imposed a rigid and unforgiving standard of “proper” behavior and education, forcing her to study relentlessly to the point of harming her eyesight. When her vision began to fail, they criticized her for wearing glasses, despite their necessity for her to function in daily life.

Her personal autonomy was routinely violated, her parents frequently searched through her belongings without permission, destroyed anything they deemed “improper,” and dismissed her thoughts and efforts as insignificant. Even as an adult, Alicia was denied independence. Her parents regularly threatened to force her into an arranged marriage with a “suitable” husband of their choosing if she did not find one herself, using her marital status as leverage to control her life further.

Eventually, Alicia was pushed into service as an Imperial Knight, a role that, while outwardly prestigious, came with its own set of burdens. She was often treated as a token female knight, enduring ridicule, isolation, and repeated humiliation from her peers and superiors. The years of emotional abuse, suppression, and injustice both at home and within the Empire took a severe toll on her mental state.

This accumulation of hatred and disillusionment ultimately caused Alicia to break psychologically, leading her to abandon her allegiance to the races of the kingdom and embrace the destructive ideals of the Demonic Beings she once swore to oppose.

Abilities

Alicia Crystella possesses both noble lineage and martial strength, prerequisites for those who attain the rank of a State Knight within the Lyferia Kingdom. As a Warrior, she has openly stated that her combat ability ranks at approximately level 40, placing her above average but not among the most elite fighters in the realm.

Despite this, Alicia displays exceptional discipline, endurance, and technical skill traits developed through years of harsh training and social pressure. Her talents are further recognized by the Gelmed Empire, which identified her as a rare Human compatible with a Magimatic Sol, a powerful mechanical weapon typically only attuned to non-human females. This unusual compatibility suggests that Alicia possesses unique latent traits or spiritual qualities, setting her apart from ordinary humans and adding to her value on the battlefield.

Equipment

Alicia Crystella’s primary weapon is a sword, which she wields with skill and precision befitting her rank as an Imperial Knight. Her swordsmanship is the result of disciplined training and battlefield experience.

In addition to her blade, Alicia carries a limited supply of expensive Magic Stones provided by her noble family. Each stone is embedded with high-level magic, sealed within for single-use activation. These stones serve as powerful tools in combat, enabling Alicia to cast advanced spells despite not being a mage herself. However, due to their extraordinary cost and rarity, her access to them is highly restricted, and she uses them sparingly, only in critical situations.

Relationships

Edelgard
Alicia holds deep admiration for Edelgard, viewing her as a beautiful and superior lifeform due to her status as a Fallen. This admiration evolves into loyalty after Edelgard saves Alicia from being executed by other Fallen who turn on her following the failed full awakening of Krebskulm. Edelgard’s protection not only preserves Alicia’s life but also strengthens her ideological reverence for demonic beings.

Krebskulm (Klem)
Alicia was devoted to reviving Krebskulm, believing that the Demon King’s return would bring about the destruction of all races, a vision she desired due to her deep-rooted hatred toward the known races. However, she is gravely disappointed when Krebskulm revives in the form of a childlike girl with no intention of harming humanity. Alicia attempts to awaken Krebskulm’s destructive nature by manipulating Saddler into harming someone the Demon King cares about, hoping to incite hatred. This plan fails when Saddler is killed by Klem, and Diablo defeats her awakened form while saving Rem’s life. With Klem ultimately expressing no desire to destroy humanity, Alicia’s efforts are rendered futile, leaving her emotionally devastated.

Diablo
Initially, Alicia saw Diablo as nothing more than a powerful tool someone she could manipulate to further her goals of reviving the Demon King and annihilating the human race. However, after the plan to fully awaken Krebskulm collapses and she is betrayed by the other Fallen, Alicia finds herself purposeless and defeated. In that moment of despair, it is Diablo who offers her a new reason to live, choosing to spare her life.

Moved by his words and strength, Alicia becomes fiercely loyal to Diablo, to the point of offering her life in exchange for his help in healing Edelgard. Diablo refuses her offer of death, and in response, Alicia pledges herself entirely to his service. Her loyalty borders on obsession she believes herself to be Diablo’s possession, and when confronted by Rose, she openly states that she would gladly die if Diablo commanded it, unless he explicitly casts her aside. Alicia also believes that Diablo’s potential to destroy the kingdom’s corruption aligns with her own ideals, even if it means toppling the kingdom entirely.
