The club achieved a significant milestone in 2000 by winning the Segunda División Profesional championship, which earned them promotion to the Primera A. Following this success, in 2001, the club underwent a name change to Jaiba Brava de Tamaulipas. Despite the name change, the team continued its competitive performance, reaching the semifinals where they were ultimately defeated by Atlético Cihuatlán.
