“Apple in the River” (Latvian: Ābols upē) is a Latvian drama film released in 1974, directed by Aivars Freimanis.[1]
Plot
In “Apple in the River,” a young docker encounters Anita, a student who has recently arrived in Riga from a small fishing village. Intrigued by the young man, Anita accepts his invitation to spend an evening at the club, where he performs with an amateur vocal and instrumental ensemble. Following the dance, they proceed to Janis’s place, but the next day, Anita unexpectedly disappears. Despite Janis’s efforts to locate her, including searching at her relatives’ home in Riga, all attempts prove futile.[2]
