Personality

Despite his calm and kind appearance, Junta has shown that he doesn’t hesitate to risk getting into trouble with his team if it means defending his friends, especially Anzu.

History

Junta Hayami and Anzu Hoshino first met during their childhood, long before Riri’s intervention. Back then, Junta was an overweight, shy boy with unkempt hair that often covered his eyes. Because of his appearance and gentle demeanor, he was frequently teased by his peers. Anzu, however, was one of the few who treated him kindly, standing up for him and helping him feel accepted. Her kindness left a deep impression on him, becoming one of his strongest and most cherished memories.

As they grew older, Junta dedicated himself to improving both physically and mentally. He began playing baseball seriously, training hard and refining his skills. Over time, he underwent a dramatic transformation, becoming tall, athletic and confident enough to earn the title of his school’s “rookie baseball star.” Even after changing so much, he never forgot Anzu or the way she made him feel during their childhood.

When Riri decides to intervene in Anzu’s love life, Junta is deliberately reintroduced as the “childhood friend” archetype. Although their reunion is orchestrated by magic, Junta’s feelings for Anzu are entirely genuine. He remembers her vividly and still cares for her deeply, cherishing the bond they once had. Throughout the series, he remains steadfast, protective and consistently supportive, proving that his affection for Anzu is rooted in real history, not magical influence.
