In her human form, Iris appears as a young girl with red hair and red eyes.
In her dragon form, she becomes a massive black dragon of typical dragon proportions. Her red hair is tied into two large pigtails, and she has two horns on the top of her head. Her mouth is large, filled with sharp dragon teeth, yet she remains primarily bipedal and rarely moves on all fours.
Personality
Iris initially appears as a terrifying and overwhelming force of nature. However, upon realizing that she has attacked Gaius’s reincarnation, she immediately pleads for her life, showing signs of trauma and fear from their previous encounters.
Personality-wise, Iris often behaves like a classic tsundere. She can be stubborn, easily flustered, and has a tendency to hide her true feelings behind anger or irritation. She also dislikes being teased, particularly about her appearance, and reacts strongly when someone mocks or challenges her.
History
Iris is a black dragon known as the “Dark Dragon,” considered the strongest of all dragons. When transformed into her human form, she appears as a red-haired girl. Although she is not human and lacks a coat of arms, Matthias uses his emblem as a disguise for her. She resides with Matthias and his party near the Kingdom of Ace and assists them in missions, such as investigating abandoned villages hiding demons like Erhard.
Iris had met Gaias in her previous life and was initially aggressive toward him. Upon realizing Matthias is Gaias’s reincarnation, she is traumatized by past events, recalling how Gaias had destroyed many dragons in his time. Despite this, she becomes a loyal ally. Around 5,000 years ago, a magical fusion reactor accident damaged her wings and magical circuits, limiting her power. Matthias is able to provide partial healing, though full restoration will take decades, relying on Ruri’s superior crest and magical talent.
As a human, Iris struggles with human customs, often judging behavior by Gaias-era standards, which can appear strange or extreme. Her magic is limited primarily to dragon-based abilities, but her raw magical power and physical strength surpass Matthias. Due to her immense appetite, she consumes nearly all money given for supplies and rewards, leaving little for anything else. Over time, she becomes more accustomed to humans, though she still frequently transforms into her dragon form during battles. Iris wields a spear as her weapon, using her strength to maximize its destructive power. Despite her quirks, she remains a vital and powerful member of Matthias’s party.
