Personality

Raeliana is kind, resourceful, and remarkably clever. Before transmigrating into the novel, she was a hardworking student, and her dedication to studying continues to benefit her in the Duke’s Mansion, where she excels academically and socially. She is quick-thinking and witty, often finding solutions in unexpected ways. A notable example is when her initial attempt to negotiate with Duke Wynknight fails, but upon noticing a chessboard, she uses it to spark his interest and secure their contractual engagement. She also frequently exchanges playful and sarcastic remarks with Noah, leading to flirtatious banter between them. Throughout the story, Raeliana’s intelligence becomes one of her greatest strengths, helping her navigate danger and protect herself from the deadly fate waiting in the original plot.

With her family, Raeliana is gentle, warm, and respectful. She cares deeply for them and is especially affectionate toward her younger sister, Rosemary, doting on her when she visits the mansion. However, Raeliana is not without a colder side. When pushed to the edge, such as when she is kidnapped by Francis Brooks and Jake Langston, she becomes terrifyingly composed and unhesitating, even going so far as to threaten their lives. This duality shows that while Raeliana is compassionate, she is also capable of fierce resolve when her survival is on the line.

History

Past Life & Transmigration

Before becoming Raeliana, she lived in modern Korea as Park Eunha, a hardworking but anxious student who had been waitlisted by every university she applied to. On February 18, 2017, Eunha encountered a mysterious stranger on the library rooftop, received news that she had finally been accepted, and was then suddenly pushed to her death. Her final thoughts were of her loved ones, and when she opened her eyes again, she had reincarnated as Raeliana McMillan inside the world of a novel she once read.

Original Role in the Novel

In the story’s original timeline, Raeliana was a minor character fated to die young after being slowly poisoned by her fiancé, Francis Brooks, who wanted to seize her family’s company. Knowing this, the reincarnated Raeliana refuses to accept her tragic fate and seeks a way to survive. She approaches the powerful Duke Noah Wynknight and proposes a fake engagement to break off her deadly engagement with Francis.

After Transmigration

Raeliana meets Noah at a party and boldly initiates their deal, pretending to be romantically involved with him to provoke Francis. Noah later visits her, leading to a signed contract in which she agrees to act as his fiancée in public in exchange for protection. She moves into the Duke’s mansion, begins training to become a suitable duchess, and develops a witty, flirtatious dynamic with Noah. However, her new life quickly becomes dangerous when she encounters political threats and is eventually kidnapped at a formal gathering, reminding her that survival in this world is an ongoing battle.
