Appearance
Takumi has a lean and athletic build with short blond hair parted to the right and striking blue-green eyes that reflect his Italian heritage. His refined appearance and natural charm have earned him quite a following, even resulting in a fan club dedicated to him. During the Stagiaire arc, he trimmed his hair shorter to present a more traditional and respectful image while working at a Japanese restaurant. Always mindful of his appearance, Takumi maintains a polished look and often takes grooming advice from his stylist at the salon.
During school hours, Takumi wears the standard Tōtsuki Academy uniform. When cooking, he changes into a white chef’s jacket and trousers adorned with orange buttons and trim along the collar and cuffs, with “Trattoria Aldini,” his family restaurant’s name, embroidered on his left sleeve. Outside of school, Takumi prefers stylish, well-coordinated outfits as his casual wear. He firmly believes that dressing fashionably is a reflection of self-respect and self-love.
Personality
Takumi is a passionate and competitive student who holds a fierce rivalry with Sōma Yukihira. While the rivalry is mostly one sided, with Takumi taking it far more seriously, Sōma does acknowledge him as a worthy opponent. Like Sōma, Takumi comes from a family run restaurant, a source of immense pride that he defends with determination whenever challenged. He despises losing and takes defeat personally, often becoming flustered or embarrassed when he makes mistakes or when others downplay his efforts. Takumi is fluent in Italian and is known for his signature phrases: “buon appetito” before someone eats his dish, and “grazie” after they finish.
He shares a close bond with his younger twin brother, Isami Aldini. Though Takumi is generally the more skilled chef, he supports Isami in improving his craft so they can one day run Trattoria Aldini together. While Isami often teases him for his serious demeanor, Takumi is deeply protective of his brother and reacts harshly toward anyone who insults him or undermines his abilities.
Takumi also has a strong sense of pride and justice, which fuels his grudges against those who cheat or act dishonorably. This was best shown during his match against Etsuya Eizan, where Takumi remained calm but vigilant, determined to outsmart him as retribution for Eizan’s earlier manipulation of his quarterfinal match against Subaru Mimasaka.
History
Born to Japanese and Italian parents, Takumi Aldini and his twin brother, Isami, were raised in Florence, Italy, under the care of their uncle, the owner of Trattoria Aldini, and their father, who served as the restaurant’s head chef. Takumi began learning to cook at the age of five, studying under his father until he eventually mastered Italian cuisine. Even from a young age, Takumi’s talent stood out, as customers frequently requested him specifically to prepare their meals. Despite Isami’s efforts to surpass him, including one failed attempt to alter an order, Takumi comforted his brother and reminded him that they were stronger together. The two made a heartfelt promise to combine their skills and turn Trattoria Aldini into the best restaurant in Italy.
As the twins grew older, their uncle encouraged them to pursue greater heights by enrolling in Tōtsuki Culinary Academy, a prestigious institution in Japan renowned for producing elite chefs despite its notoriously low graduation rate. Embracing the challenge, Takumi and Isami left Italy to chase excellence on a global stage. Before their departure, their father gifted them each a bottle of Aldini Olive Oil—a family heirloom symbolizing protection and the spirit of their craft. With determination and talent, the brothers successfully entered Tōtsuki and completed its rigorous middle school division, setting their sights on mastering the academy’s elite high school program.
