Shōji has dirty blond hair styled in a semi-mohawk with darker edges. He often wears a sweater or long-sleeved shirts and is noted for his tough appearance. At school, he wears the standard Tōtsuki uniform, which he usually leaves unbuttoned without a tie, and dons a standard white chef’s uniform when cooking.

Shōji often gets into fights with Daigo, though the two share a close bond. Despite his rough exterior, he is deeply loyal to his fellow Polar Star residents, readily defending them from insults and cheering them on during major competitions. He frequently joins the others in teasing Zenji and is often seen turning Zenji’s room into the center of their dorm parties. Though he and Daigo argue constantly, the two are almost never seen apart.

He passed Fumio Daimidō’s entrance test and was admitted to the Polar Star Dormitory before the start of the series.
