Did You Know?

Docy turns out that context is a key part of learning.

Yoriko Kichijouji

Yoriko Kichijouji is a supporting character in Oshi no Ko. She is the talented mangaka behind the popular series I’ll Go With Sweet Today and serves as the mentor of Abiko Samejima, the creator of Tokyo Blade. Known for her skill and experience in the manga industry, Yoriko plays a key role in guiding younger artists while maintaining her own respected reputation as a successful creator.

Introduced as the wife of Ichigo-Pro’s former president, Ichigo Saitou, she was tasked with being the twins’ caretaker, a job she initially hated. However, over time, she grew to love them as if they were her own and later became their foster mother after their real mother passed away. She is especially close with Ruby, supporting her dream of being an idol by lending her the agency’s resources.

Abiko-Sensei doesn’t like having others tinker with her manga… and I can completely relate. I’m not great at critiquing other people’s work. I tend to leave everything pertaining to media to the production staff… But deep down, I feel the way she does.

Yoriko has light blonde hair styled in a neat bob cut and wears round glasses that complement her calm and composed appearance. In Chapter 43, she is depicted wearing a white and black striped shirt paired with a black jacket during her meeting with Abiko, giving her a professional yet relaxed look fitting for a seasoned mangaka.

Personality

Yoriko is portrayed as a carefree, outgoing, and laid-back individual. Her relaxed demeanor may stem from her manga’s monthly serialization schedule, which allows her more time and less stress compared to weekly authors. This easygoing nature contrasts sharply with Abiko’s strict and intense personality. Despite her casual attitude, Yoriko is considerate and empathetic toward others, though her kindness can sometimes make her less critical than she should be.

As a skilled and experienced mangaka, Yoriko possesses a sharp intuition that allows her to discern a creator’s personality and mindset through their work. She is deeply knowledgeable about the manga industry, understanding both the creative challenges and the editorial pressures that come with producing a successful series.
