Bond Forger

Bond Forger (ボンド・フォージャー, Bondo Fōjā) is a major supporting character in the SPY x FAMILY series and the beloved pet of the Forger family. Once known as Subject 8 (実験体8号, Jikkentai Hachi-gō, “Experimental Subject No. 8”), he was part of the Ostanian government’s secret research initiative called Project Apple. This project sought to enhance animal intelligence for military purposes, ultimately granting Bond the extraordinary ability to foresee future events.

You did a great job today. That was impressive. That said… you have to be more careful. Because there is someone else back home who’d be heartbroken if anything happened to you. I’m sorry about before, your working duties should always come second. I want you to think of yourself as a member of the Forger Family, first and foremost.
— Loid Forger to Bond

Appearance

Bond is a large, fluffy dog of an uncertain breed, with a thick white coat and distinctive black paws—an appearance that Anya fondly compares to the gloves and shoes of her favorite TV hero, Bondman. His broad build, long fur, and gentle face resemble that of a Great Pyrenees, and he’s big enough for Anya to ride on his back comfortably. Beneath his fluffy coat, however, Bond’s body is leaner than it appears, something that becomes apparent whenever he gets wet. Interestingly, even his bark changes when his fur is soaked, giving him an unexpectedly comical charm.

He has small, dark eyes that give him a kind and wise look, with floppy ears that hang loosely by his face. Bond is almost always seen wearing a bow tie–shaped collar, a gift from Anya after she decided on his name. The simple accessory not only adds to his endearing appearance but also symbolizes his role as a cherished member of the Forger family.

Bond with Anya

Despite his tragic past, Bond is a kind and loyal dog who uses his precognition to help others. He has saved people from danger, including preventing Loid’s death with Anya’s help, and often assists in small but meaningful ways, like retrieving Anya’s lost belongings. However, his eagerness to act can sometimes lead to mistakes, as he occasionally jumps to conclusions and causes trouble while trying to help.

Bond also shows a jealous and sensitive side, especially toward Anya’s toys, once tearing up her favorite stuffed penguin out of envy. He later made amends by bringing her peanuts to apologize. Having endured hardship as a test subject in Project Apple, Bond was initially afraid of training and unfamiliar with play. Over time, though, he grew comfortable with the Forgers and found happiness in their care, devoted to protecting the family that gave him love and a home.

Precognition: As a result of the experiments conducted on him, Bond developed the ability to see glimpses of the future. These visions, often brief and fragmented, can reveal events ranging from a few minutes to several hours ahead. They appear in Bond’s mind like static-filled television screens accompanied by faint sounds from the scene. His precognition activates when his ears suddenly twitch, signaling that a vision is occurring. However, the future Bond sees is not fixed — his or others’ actions can alter it. On one occasion, his vision helped Anya prevent Loid’s death and a potential civil war. When unconscious, Bond experiences total darkness in his visions, sometimes mistaking this as a forewarning of his own death.

Enhanced Speed and Agility: Bond possesses remarkable physical abilities. He can run swiftly for long distances, even while carrying Anya on his back, and has managed to outrun Yor, a professional assassin known for her athleticism. His agility allows him to perform impressive feats, such as delivering a flying kick to an adult man and leaping from a burning building to safety.

Enhanced Smell: Like most dogs, Bond has a powerful sense of smell, though his appears especially keen. He can detect Loid’s scent from across the city and has been trained to identify dangerous substances, including explosives and flammable chemicals.

Basic Combat Skills: Because of his involvement in military experiments, Bond has likely received some form of combat conditioning. Combined with additional training from Loid, he can effectively subdue or incapacitate adult opponents when needed, making him both a loyal companion and a capable protector of the Forger family.
