Appearance

Appearance in Anime
Kuroh is depicted as a tall, attractive young man, noted by Ashinaka High School students for his striking looks. He has long black hair, usually tied into a ponytail with bangs parted to either side, leaving a few strands falling across his face, and sharp blue eyes.
His standard attire consists of a long black jacket with gold trimmings, an upturned collar, and rolled-up sleeves, worn over a white long-sleeved shirt and an unkempt blue necktie. He pairs this with black trousers and white shoes, and he carries his sword, Kotowari, at his waist.
Following the Ashinaka Island Incident, Kuroh temporarily altered his appearance by letting his hair down past his shoulders. During this period, he wore a black long-sleeved shirt with a bluish-grey infinity scarf, layered with a dark blue hooded jacket featuring darker stripes at the cuffs and hem. He also wore lighter black trousers, a black belt, and black shoes, while continuing to carry Kotowari at his side. However, this outfit was short-lived, and he eventually returned to his original style.
Personality
Kuroh is portrayed as a serious and disciplined individual, outwardly presenting himself as stoic, principled, and uncompromising. He is determined to accomplish his objectives with unwavering resolve, yet he is not without warmth, showing a willingness to set aside his goals in favor of companionship and loyalty. He adheres to a personal philosophy that a person should be judged not by appearance or words, but by their actions.
Though he projects an image of strength and restraint, Kuroh possesses a gentle and trusting nature that at times makes him gullible. For example, he initially believed Yashiro’s false claim about having an ill sister, moved by the emotional weight such a situation would carry. He also demonstrates modesty when faced with indecency or nudity, often flustered by Neko’s uninhibited behavior.
Kuroh holds values such as heroism and selflessness in high regard, admiring those who prioritize the well-being of others. His late master, Ichigen Miwa, serves as his guiding inspiration and role model, whom Kuroh reveres as an embodiment of virtue and dignity. Beyond his martial discipline, Kuroh has a fondness for cooking, carrying a set of utensils with him and displaying notable skill in preparing meals for others.
History
Kuroh Yatogami’s early life was marked by tragedy. At the age of five, he lived with his parents, older siblings, and grandfather. During an outing to view the autumn leaves, their car was struck by a truck, resulting in a devastating crash. Kuroh was the sole survivor, though he was critically injured and briefly declared dead twice before being revived in the hospital. He spent over two weeks recovering, often suppressing his grief in front of others and only crying when alone.
Following the accident, Kuroh was adopted by his aunt and uncle. However, within a year, a fire consumed their home, and they died from carbon monoxide poisoning. The string of misfortunes led extended family members to view Kuroh as an “Angel of Death,” unfairly blaming him for the deaths around him. Eventually, a distant relative took him in, but only to gain control of his inheritance. The relative squandered the money on alcohol and gambling, subjected Kuroh to abuse, and ultimately abandoned him after falling into debt. Malnourished and wandering alone, Kuroh collapsed in the snowy mountains, where he was discovered and rescued by Ichigen Miwa, the Seventh and Colorless King.
Under Ichigen’s care, Kuroh gradually recovered and began training as a Clansman. His powers did not manifest immediately but awakened when he instinctively saved a village boy from falling off a cliff. From that point onward, he continued to serve faithfully under Ichigen’s guidance.
When Ichigen’s terminal illness finally claimed his life, he left Kuroh a final command in his will: to seek out his successor and judge whether the new Colorless King was good or evil. If the latter, Ichigen entrusted Kuroh with the authority to kill them. This mission ultimately brought Kuroh into contact with Yashiro Isana, whom he would later come to serve as the Silver King’s vassal.
Power and Abilities
Silver Aura
As a member of the Silver Clan, Kuroh wields the Silver Aura, which grants him control over gravity manipulation. This allows him to freely levitate himself, run along vertical surfaces, and enhance his physical movements. In K: Missing Kings, he is shown channeling this Aura into his sword, Kotowari, significantly increasing the weapon’s attack power and speed.
Force
Kuroh possesses a supernatural ability referred to as Force, enabling him to manifest a translucent, lavender, gel-like hand. This construct can interact with both physical and non-physical objects, allowing him to seize, manipulate, or restrain targets regardless of their form.
Spatial Distortion
Building on his Force ability, Kuroh can “grab” and distort matter within a given area. By pulling on the structure of objects or space itself, he manipulates their properties, creating localized spatial distortions that can disrupt enemies or alter the battlefield.
Equipment
Kotowari
Kuroh’s primary weapon is a katana named Kotowari, which once belonged to his master, Ichigen Miwa. The sword features a black tsuka-ito weave over ornate silver same, a bronze kashira, a black tsuba, and a steel blade sheathed in a dark blue scabbard with a bronze tip. Kotowari is a weapon of immense power, capable of harming even the Kings. During battle, it was shown to bypass the Silver King’s immortality, shattering the Colorless King’s mask and injuring him despite his possession of Weismann’s body. Kuroh is highly disciplined with Kotowari, drawing it only when absolutely necessary, most notably when confronting Yashiro, whom he initially suspected of being the Colorless King.
Voice Recorder
Kuroh carries a black handheld voice recorder adorned with intricate yellow tomoe symbols. It features seven buttons, including six on the front and one on the side, with a patterned circular design surrounding the speaker. He uses the device to preserve the words of his late master, Ichigen Miwa, and it serves as a personal memento as well as a source of guidance.
Cell Phone
Kuroh owns a black cell phone manufactured by a company under the Gold King, Daikaku Kokujōji. Attached to it is a small doll modeled after Ichigen Miwa, dressed in a miniature outfit with Kuroh’s name inscribed on the side, symbolizing his loyalty to his former master.
Briefcase
Reflecting his fondness for cooking, Kuroh carries a large black briefcase filled with cooking utensils. The upper compartment includes measuring spoons, spice jars, chopsticks, and a peeler, while the lower compartment holds tools such as a spatula, chopping knife, and dicing knife. Though lightweight in design, the case appears heavy when carried. Kuroh often uses its contents to prepare meals for himself and his companions during their travels.
