Quiche (also romanized as Kish) is a recurring antagonist in the manga and anime series Tokyo Mew Mew. He is one of the three alien warriors alongside Pai and Taruto who arrive on Earth with the intention of reclaiming the planet for their species. As a loyal follower of Deep Blue, Quiche serves as both an enemy to the Mew Mews and one of their most persistent opponents, though his playful and mischievous personality often sets him apart from his more serious comrades.
Personality

Appearance in Anime
Quiche is portrayed as a playful yet sadistic antagonist, whose carefree and mischievous nature masks a violent hatred for humanity. He delights in tormenting Ichigo Momomiya, often harassing her with mocking nicknames such as “honey,” “kitty-cat,” and “sweetie-pie,” while finding amusement in both her pain and frustration. Quiche frequently treats his enemies as toys for his own entertainment, reflecting his cruel sense of humor and sadistic tendencies.
Despite his frivolous exterior, Quiche is intelligent and resourceful, often turning mistakes into opportunities. He is highly possessive, extending this trait even to people, and has a quick temper that sometimes leads him to lash out at his comrades. While he claims to fight for the survival of his species, his methods are violent and self-serving, and he maintains a deep mistrust of Deep Blue, occasionally questioning whether their leader truly has the aliens’ best interests at heart.
Quiche’s dynamic with Ichigo becomes one of his most defining traits. Initially viewing her as nothing more than an intriguing adversary, his interest gradually shifts into obsession. He confesses his love for her multiple times, kidnaps her in the manga, and even attempts to eliminate Masaya Aoyama out of jealousy. His affection, however, is consistently expressed through harassment, coercion, and violence, demonstrating his inability to reconcile genuine love with his possessive and destructive impulses. In one instance, after Ichigo rejects him, Quiche attempts to strangle her in desperation, only to break down in tears and release her.
By the end of the story, Quiche undergoes a partial redemption. After Deep Blue awakens, Quiche turns against his leader to protect Ichigo, sacrificing himself in the process. Following Deep Blue’s defeat, he is revived through the power of the Mew Aqua. In the manga, before departing Earth with Pai and Taruto, Quiche bids Ichigo happiness and steals a final kiss, marking a bittersweet closure to his obsession with her.
Appearance
Quiche belongs to an unnamed alien race (referred to as Cyniclons in the English adaptation Mew Mew Power), described as distant relatives of humans who originally shared Earth as their home. Physically, his species resembles humans but with distinct alien traits.
Quiche’s most notable features are his golden eyes with orange hues, marked by slit pupils that stand out for their brightness. Like others of his kind, he has elongated, pointed ears and small fangs, while his pale skin reflects a life spent underground. His dark green hair is cut short at the back but left longer at the sides, tied near the ears with red hair bands, a style common among his people.
In terms of build, Quiche has the appearance of a slender human boy around 13 years old, with a lean frame. His clothing reflects the style of his race, consisting of a dark green shirt with puffed sleeves and a high collar, detailed with red stitching, worn beneath a shorter brown shirt that exposes his midriff. Beneath these layers, he wears a V-neck undershirt, cut to match the brown top. His black, baggy shorts end at mid-thigh and are secured by a red waistband and additional red bands around his thighs. Covering the shorts is a brown loincloth extending to the front and back, with two long, trailing strips of fabric flowing from behind.
Additional accessories include dark red sarashi bandages wrapped around his wrists and legs, and a pair of dark boots fastened by three straps on each side. Altogether, his outfit emphasizes his alien heritage while giving him an agile, youthful appearance.
Powers and Abilities
Capacities
Quiche possesses a wide range of supernatural abilities as a member of his alien race. He can fly at will and teleport, including transporting other people and objects or opening dimensional portals. His strength is considerable, demonstrated during combat in several episodes, and he has the ability to distort matter, as shown in episode 13. Quiche can also breathe underwater, extract human spirits, and demonstrates exceptional flexibility and agility. While he does not always rely on close combat, he is skilled in melee fighting techniques, making him a formidable opponent when engaged directly.
Chimera Animas
For much of the series, Quiche primarily relies on creating and controlling Chimera Animas, genetically altered creatures used to battle the Mew Mews. In the manga (volume 5), he further demonstrates the ability to split himself into multiple copies, using this to disorient and overwhelm his enemies.
Weapons
Quiche wields different weapons across adaptations. In the manga, he fights with tonfas, while in the anime he uses a pair of sai, which he refers to as his “dragon swords.” He is highly skilled in dual-wielding combat and often channels lightning energy through his weapons, enabling him to electrocute opponents. In Tokyo Mew Mew New, he is briefly shown with a short blade during episode 3, intended for use against Ichigo, though the attempt is thwarted by the Mew Mews’ intervention.
Energy Blasts
Quiche is capable of generating bursts of energy, which he uses both offensively against opponents and destructively to eliminate obstacles. These blasts can vary in strength, from startling enemies to causing significant damage.
Relationships
Ichigo Momomiya
Quiche’s most notable relationship is with Ichigo, the leader of the Mew Mews. While he initially views her as an intriguing enemy, his interest gradually develops into a dangerous obsession. He frequently harasses her, addressing her with affectionate nicknames such as “Koneko-chan” (little kitten), and openly confesses his love for her on multiple occasions. His feelings, however, are expressed in possessive and coercive ways, including kidnapping attempts and hostility toward her boyfriend, Masaya Aoyama. Despite his antagonism, Ichigo’s compassion leaves a lasting impact on him, influencing his later actions.
Masaya Aoyama / Deep Blue
Quiche despises Masaya, both out of jealousy for Ichigo’s affection and because Masaya is revealed to be the vessel of Deep Blue. Quiche initially serves Deep Blue out of loyalty to his people but becomes disillusioned by Deep Blue’s ruthlessness. His jealousy and conflicting loyalties create tension, ultimately leading him to turn against Deep Blue near the series’ climax.
Pai and Taruto
Quiche works closely with his fellow aliens Pai and Taruto, though his relationship with them is often strained. While Pai is serious and disciplined, Quiche’s playful and sadistic personality frequently clashes with him. With Taruto, the dynamic is more lighthearted, though Quiche occasionally loses patience with his immaturity. Despite these conflicts, the three share a bond as comrades fighting for the survival of their race.
Deep Blue
Though Quiche outwardly follows Deep Blue’s orders, he secretly questions their leader’s intentions and whether his actions truly serve the best interests of their people. His growing doubts culminate in betrayal, as Quiche turns against Deep Blue in order to protect Ichigo and oppose his destructive plans.
