Shushu is generally cheerful and easygoing, maintaining a lighthearted attitude in most situations. Unlike her fellow squad member Himari Azuma, who initially disliked Yuuki Wakura, Shushu was immediately intrigued by him, partly because she had attended an all-girls school and had little interaction with boys her age. Having led an otherwise uneventful life, she sought excitement and joined the Anti-Demon Corps primarily in search of new experiences, though she can be easily provoked when challenged.

Beneath her carefree demeanor, Shushu is somewhat shy about her feelings for Yuuki, preferring to tease him indirectly rather than express her emotions openly. She is also notably protective of him, often watching out for his safety.

Shushu’s curiosity and playful nature contribute to her innocence, though it occasionally leads to bold behavior, such as expressing interest in seeing a man’s naked form purely out of curiosity.

Shushu is a well-endowed young woman with short, yellow hair that carries a greenish tint and matching green eyes. She typically wears a ribbon atop her head, tied so that the ends resemble upright bunny ears.

As a member of the 7th Unit, Shushu wears the standard Anti-Demon Corps uniform, consisting of a sleeveless navy military-style tunic, long gloves extending past the elbows, a red belt, shorts, and high-heeled boots that reach mid-shin.

Shushu was born into a modest household and never knew her father. The youngest of three sisters, she was often the most indulged within her family. She attended Bentenjima Girls’ High School, where she had little to no interaction with boys her age. At some point, Shushu consumed a Mato Fruit, gaining supernatural abilities, and later enlisted in the Anti-Demon Corps. Her motivations for joining were driven by a desire for excitement as well as the need to secure a stable income.

Paradigm Shift (玉体革命パラダイムシフト, Paradaimu Shifuto, lit. “Imperial Liberation”)
This ability allows Shushu to alter her physical size at will, either enlarging or shrinking her body. Her clothing adjusts proportionally with each change. In combat, she typically enlarges herself to gigantic proportions, gaining immense strength and durability to match her size. She can also selectively enlarge specific parts of her body, as demonstrated when she increased her bust size in an attempt to tease Yuuki Wakura in the shower.

Boulder Melter (無窮の鎖スレイブ・岩融, Sureibu: Iwa Tōshi, lit. “Eternal Chain: Rock Fusion”)
This is the fifth transformation Yuuki assumes through Lending. In this form, his physique becomes bulkier, with armored gauntlets, shoulder guards, chest straps, and shorts that are significantly larger than in his first transformation. Offense and defense are greatly enhanced, and by concentrating power into his arm, Yuuki can deliver a single, devastating strike.

The given name Shushu (朱々) uses the kanji shu (朱), meaning “vermilion” or “scarlet,” written twice for emphasis. Her surname Suruga (駿河) is the name of a historical province in Japan, now part of Shizuoka Prefecture, with shun (駿) meaning “swift” or “excellent horse” and ga/kawa (河) meaning “river.”
