Personality

Cathy is defined by her obsession with “sinners,” a term she uses for those she deems deserving of her judgment, often addressing Zack and Ray as “my lovely sinners.” Calling herself “The Condemner,” she revels in the role of punisher, seeing it as her personal duty to discipline and control those she targets. Sadistic by nature, Cathy designs elaborate, lethal games across her floor, taking immense pleasure in watching her victims struggle whether they fail and meet a gruesome end or succeed and prove themselves worthy of further torment.

Highly extroverted and flamboyant, Cathy thrives on attention and is unafraid to display her eccentric personality. She is animated and expressive in her speech and gestures, often toying with her prey through playful banter. Her fixation on punishment is not limited to cruelty alone; she enjoys the theatricality of her role, making her games both deadly and show-like. Zack once referred to her as a “sadist-masochist,” a label that, while mocking, reflects her enjoyment of both inflicting pain and enduring dangerous situations for the thrill of it.

History

Cathy attended a prestigious high school, where she was well-liked and admired for her confidence, charm, and striking appearance. During these years, she became close to a classmate named Lucy, who idolized her to an almost fanatical degree. Lucy saw Cathy as flawless, someone destined to judge others and punish “sinners.”

One rainy afternoon, Lucy was reading the newspaper when she learned that Cathy’s parents, both doctors, had been killed by enraged family members of their patients following fatal medical errors. Expecting Cathy to be devastated, Lucy attended the funeral to offer comfort, only to find Cathy entirely unmoved. Cathy dismissed the usual condolences, telling Lucy not to repeat empty words. This only deepened Lucy’s devotion, and she swore an oath of loyalty to Cathy, believing her to be the ultimate arbiter of justice.

After her parents’ deaths, Cathy’s popularity at school sharply declined. She remained unfazed by the loss, which her peers found unsettling, and she soon became a target of bullying. Her former friends vandalized her locker and spread rumors, but Lucy stayed by her side, cleaning up the messes and defending her.

The bullying escalated when a group of girls stole acid from the science lab with plans to disfigure Cathy’s face. Lucy overheard the plot, confronted the girls, and fought them off until a teacher intervened. Later, Cathy revealed she had watched the incident from a window and was impressed. Lucy declared her absolute loyalty, insisting that only Cathy had the right to decide who was a sinner and who deserved punishment. Though surprised by this extreme devotion, Cathy accepted it and told Lucy to “do the job smartly.”

A few days later, the same bullies cornered Lucy in a classroom, this time with the help of a man armed with a knife. Their plan was to humiliate Lucy and attack Cathy. Cathy arrived mid-confrontation, calm and unfazed, and easily fought back when attacked. In the chaos, the man accidentally stabbed Lucy. Even wounded, Lucy pressed Cathy to decide who the sinner was. Cathy’s cryptic response “You know who it is” led Lucy to believe she had permission to act. Soon after, Lucy pushed one of her tormentors in front of an oncoming train, killing her instantly.

This incident cemented Lucy’s belief that Cathy was above all others and should never be opposed. After high school, the two became prison guards at the same facility, earning a reputation as “condemners” who delivered their own brand of lethal justice to inmates they deemed irredeemable. Their partnership continued until Cathy received an invitation from Gray to join the underground facility as one of his Angels. Accepting without hesitation, she resigned from the prison and in her final act there, she “condemned” Lucy herself, killing her for taking too many lives without her approval.

Role in the Story

Cathy serves as the main antagonist of Episode 2, presiding over B3 as its floor master. Known as “The Condemner,” she designs her floor as a twisted prison, filled with elaborate traps and psychological trials meant to test and punish her “lovely sinners,” a term she uses for Rachel Gardner and Zack Foster.

Upon their arrival, Cathy welcomes them with flamboyant theatrics and taunts, explaining that to proceed, they must endure her sadistic games. Her challenges combine physical hazards, such as crushing walls and trap-filled corridors, with psychological torment, forcing her targets to confront their fears and morality. She takes particular delight in pushing them to their limits, keeping detailed records of their actions to decide whether they deserve “punishment” or “release.”

Cathy quickly develops a fascination with Zack’s violent nature and Rachel’s stoic calm, seeing them as unique sinners worthy of her attention. However, her games are also designed to pit them against each other, hoping to drive a wedge between the pair. Throughout their ordeal, she observes from surveillance rooms, laughing, jeering, and occasionally offering cryptic commentary on their performance.

Her tests culminate in an execution chamber, where she attempts to kill Zack using an electric chair while taunting Rachel into revealing her true desires. Despite her confidence, the two manage to turn the tables, Rachel sabotages the controls, allowing Zack to break free and pursue Cathy. In the final confrontation, Cathy meets her end at Zack’s hands, her theatrics and twisted sense of justice ending with a manic smile.

Even in death, Cathy leaves a lasting impression as one of the most flamboyant and dangerous floor masters in the facility, remembered for her mix of charm, cruelty, and theatrical sadism.

Relationships

Isaac Foster – Cathy immediately takes a keen interest in Zack, considering him her “ideal sinner” due to his monstrous demeanor and violent tendencies. She delights in tormenting him with her elaborate punishments, determined to be the one to personally execute him. This obsession turns to rage when Zack self-inflicts a serious wound, robbing her of the satisfaction of delivering the final blow herself. Zack, in turn, harbors deep hatred for Cathy, finding her sadistic mind games and manipulative theatrics intolerable. Her taunts also stir painful memories of being treated as a tool in the past, further fueling his desire to kill her—something he ultimately carries out without hesitation.

Rachel Gardner – Initially, Cathy finds Rachel dull and uninspiring, dismissing her as a “failed sinner” due to her calm and emotionless exterior. Unlike Zack, Rachel does not provide the emotional reactions Cathy craves from her victims. However, when Rachel reveals a hidden ruthless side by shooting Cathy, Cathy finally acknowledges her as a worthy sinner, even if the recognition comes too late.

Daniel Dickens – Cathy has known Danny since before either became a floor master, as both once worked at the same prison. They recognized a mutual similarity in their twisted inclinations and agreed to keep each other’s secrets. Cathy would sometimes consult Danny about specific prisoners, using his psychological assessments to tailor her punishments. Despite this professional cooperation, Cathy still considered Danny a sinner and made no exceptions for him. Danny, aware of her nature, kept his distance and never liked her, even during their time working together.

Lucy – Lucy was devoted to Cathy from their school days, idolizing her “perfection” and defending her from bullies after the murder of Cathy’s parents. Initially, Cathy considered Lucy a foolish but useful follower, keeping her close as a loyal enforcer. Their partnership continued into their careers as prison guards, with Lucy often carrying out Cathy’s orders to finish off prisoners. However, when Cathy accepted Gray’s invitation to become a floor master, she chose Lucy as her first victim, an act Lucy accepted with pride, feeling honored to be the first person Cathy personally killed.

Legacy

Cathy remains one of the most flamboyant and sadistically theatrical floor masters in Angels of Death, leaving a lasting impression on both the narrative and the fanbase for her eccentric personality, elaborate punishments, and striking visual design. Her unique blend of playfulness and cruelty, along with her fixation on the concept of “sin,” has made her a standout antagonist in the series. Despite her relatively short appearance, her sadomasochistic games on B3 are remembered as one of the most intense and psychologically charged encounters in the story. Among fans, Cathy is frequently cited as a character who perfectly embodies the series’ dark humor and twisted moral themes, cementing her status as an iconic figure within the Angels of Death franchise.
