Havoc

Havoc is a former Contractor, later classified as a Regressor, who lost both her abilities and much of her memory following the disappearance of Heaven’s Gate in South America. Once feared for her destructive powers, she became a shadow of her former self after the incident. Five years before the main events of the series, she was discovered in a small Romanian town, cut off from the Syndicate and struggling with amnesia and a drastically altered personality.

Havoc and Hei hiding through a wall

Havoc, whose real name is Carmine, was once one of the most notorious Contractors, known for her immense destructive abilities. During the South American War, she served alongside Bai, Hei, and Amber under the Syndicate’s command. Her reputation as a Contractor was so fearsome that she was rumored to have killed hundreds possibly even thousands over the course of the conflict.

On the day Heaven’s Gate vanished, Havoc was stationed in South America as per Syndicate orders. Following the Gate’s disappearance, she awoke in Europe with no memory of the events that had transpired. Stripped of her powers and transformed into a Regressor, she lost both her lethal abilities and much of her former personality. Havoc eventually settled in a small Romanian village, living a quiet life with a local family, disconnected from her past and the Syndicate’s reach.

Personality

As a Contractor, Havoc was infamous for her ruthless nature and lack of empathy, earning a reputation as one of the most feared and merciless individuals in the field. Her actions during the South American War painted her as a heartless killer, driven solely by the cold logic typical of most Contractors.

However, her time living in Romania after becoming a Regressor marked a significant transformation in her personality. Devoid of her powers and memories, she gradually embraced a simpler, more human existence. She came to enjoy everyday activities such as cooking and found joy in preparing meals for children, stating that she preferred bringing them happiness over the violent urges of her past, such as drinking blood.

This newfound humanity led Havoc to assist Hei in his search for his sister, hoping to recover her memories without regaining her abilities. Despite her efforts, when her powers began to resurface, she became terrified of reverting to her former self. Aware that she might lose control and harm others again, Havoc ultimately pleaded with Hei to end her life choosing death over the possibility of becoming a killer once more.

Appearance

Havoc is a petite and slender woman with distinct features. She has short, tousled red hair that frames her face and vivid green eyes that stand out against her pale complexion. Her youthful appearance often contrasts with the violent reputation she once held as a Contractor. While her attire varies depending on the period of the story, she is often seen in modest, practical clothing during her time in Romania, reflecting her attempt to live a quiet life after losing her powers. During her Contractor days, her clothing was more functional and tactical, suited for combat situations.

Abilities

Vacuum Creation
As a Contractor, Havoc possessed the destructive ability to generate large-scale vacuums, effectively removing all air from a defined space. This power could devastate an entire area within moments, causing internal ruptures in living beings due to the sudden absence of atmospheric pressure and structural collapse in nearby buildings. Her ability was considered one of the most terrifying among Contractors, earning her a fearsome reputation during the South American War.

Regressor Status
Following the disappearance of Heaven’s Gate, Havoc lost her powers and became a Regressor, a rare case where a Contractor loses their abilities along with most of their memories. Although she retained a vague awareness of her violent past, she no longer had access to her powers until they briefly returned later in the series.

Part in the Story

Havoc is located in a Romanian town by an informant, who sells her whereabouts to MI-6 agents November 11, April, and July. Upon arrival, they inform her that she will be cooperating with them for several months. She is transported to Tokyo, where she is questioned by Eric Nishijima of PANDORA and told she will be assisting with Contractor related experiments. To evade potential interference, Havoc is secretly moved inside the trunk of a vehicle driven by Misaki Kirihara. Meanwhile, a decoy helicopter is used to throw off any surveillance, and November 11 reveals the ploy to Misaki mid-transport.

However, the car is ambushed by Hei and Huang, who manage to capture Havoc. Defying Syndicate orders, Hei takes her to a remote location, hoping to extract information about his missing sister, Bai. To force answers from her, Hei tortures Havoc by breaking her fingers, until she tearfully confesses that she lost both her memories and Contractor powers following the incident at Heaven’s Gate. Despite her fear, she offers to help Hei by attempting to recover her memories, on the condition that he kills her if she reverts to her former self or becomes dangerous again.

Later, as they approach Hell’s Gate, Havoc’s memories and powers suddenly return. Terrified of relapsing into the cold-blooded killer she once was, she pleads with Hei to end her life. Hei refuses, insisting that she can regain control if they move away from the Gate’s influence. Comforted by his compassion, Havoc makes a move to flee with Hei, but is tragically killed by November 11 before she can escape. In her final moments, she attempts to tell Hei something important, but dies before she can speak.
