Shera L. Greenwood is one of the main female protagonists in the How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord (Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu) series. An Elf and a member of royalty from the Kingdom of Greenwood, Shera is one of the two Summoners who accidentally bring Diablo into their world. Her primary reason for performing the summoning ritual was to gain the strength to live freely, apart from the restrictions imposed by her royal heritage and societal expectations.
Shera’s summoning attempt backfires due to Diablo’s magic reflection ring, causing her and her fellow Summoner, Rem Galleu to become magically bound to Diablo instead. Despite this unexpected outcome, she quickly becomes one of Diablo’s closest companions and plays a central role throughout his journey.
Appearance

Appearance in Anime
Shera L. Greenwood is a striking young Elf with long, golden blonde hair, part of which is styled in a braid. She often wears a simple grass-like ornament on her head, enhancing her natural, forest-born aesthetic. As is characteristic of Elves, she has elongated, pointed ears. Her physique is slender and graceful, with a long neck and limbs. However, unlike the typically petite frame associated with female Elves, Shera possesses a notably voluptuous figure, especially distinguished by her large bust.
Shera’s clothing is revealing and attention-grabbing, bearing similarities to the minimalistic attire worn by Sylvie. Her signature outfit consists of a green tunic known as the Coat of Princess, which is tied together with strings in several places. The design leaves much of her skin visible through the fabric’s fluttering gaps. The outfit clings loosely to her body, creating the impression that it is barely held in place, further accentuating her sensual silhouette. Her bold appearance often draws attention and highlights the contrast between her playful demeanor and her noble lineage.
Personality
Shera L. Greenwood is cheerful, affectionate, and emotionally expressive. She is open about her feelings and physical affection, often seeking closeness with those she cares about particularly Diablo and Rem. Shera dislikes being alone, especially when bathing, and frequently insists on joining others, regardless of their objections. Her desire for physical closeness stems from a deeper emotional need: Shera suffers from profound loneliness and yearns for genuine companionship.
Though playful and uninhibited, Shera is not unintelligent. She has shown an aptitude for quickly learning practical skills, particularly in magic and archery. However, her thought process is often spontaneous and disconnected, sometimes requiring others to help her piece together information or reach logical conclusions.
Shera is somewhat self-conscious about her body, particularly her bust size, which is unusually large for an Elf. While she initially felt awkward about this, she grows more confident after learning that Diablo finds her attractive. Her playful nature extends to her interactions with Rem, whom she teases affectionately often showing physical affection such as playing with her ears.
Despite her flirtatious and sometimes naïve behavior, Shera is pure-hearted and devoid of malice. She is incapable of holding grudges, even against her abusive elder brother, whom she mourns despite understanding the necessity of his demise. Her moral compass is strongly rooted in kindness, empathy, and forgiveness. Though she accepts that violence may be unavoidable in certain circumstances, she never harbors cruelty or hatred.
Shera’s understanding of the world, particularly regarding romance and intimacy, is limited and often comically naïve. For example, she believes that pregnancy can result simply from sleeping next to a man, suggesting she has little knowledge of biology or reproduction. Her desire to make others feel loved and happy occasionally leads her into awkward or overly intimate situations, though these actions stem from genuine affection rather than a full awareness of their implications.
Background
Shera L. Greenwood was born as a princess of the Kingdom of Greenwood, a nation governed by Elves. From a young age, she demonstrated a natural aptitude for archery and was officially evaluated by the kingdom’s Adventurers Association as a Level 40 Archer, a notable feat for someone of her age and status.
Her peaceful life in the royal family took a dark turn following the death of her eldest brother. Her remaining brother, Keera Greenwood, sought to continue the family bloodline by forcing Shera into an incestuous relationship. Horrified by his intentions and the oppressive constraints of her royal life, Shera made the decision to flee the kingdom. Taking several valuable treasures with her to finance her escape, she set off in pursuit of personal freedom and a chance to determine her own future.
During her journey, Shera faced various hardships and came to the conclusion that she needed overwhelming strength to protect herself and live freely. This led her to Starfall Tower, a place known in lore for summoning powerful beings. There, she met Rem Galleu, a Pantherian girl with similar goals. Together, they performed a summoning ritual to call forth a Demon Lord, resulting in the arrival of Diablo. Due to a magical reflection caused by Diablo’s ring, the ritual backfired, and both Shera and Rem became bound to him instead.
Unbeknownst to many in her homeland, Shera had mastered Aura Vision as a young child, a rare and valuable skill that allowed her to perceive the life force and magical presence of others. Despite her natural talent, this ability went unrecognized in the Kingdom of Greenwood. It was only later, upon meeting Medios, that Shera’s potential was formally acknowledged. Medios noted that Shera possessed enough raw capability to manage a slaver caravan with ease, had she chosen that path, further highlighting how overlooked her talents had been in her homeland.
Plot
Volume 1
In the first volume of the series, Shera L. Greenwood, along with Rem Galleu, performs a summoning ritual atop Starfall Tower in an effort to call forth a powerful entity. Their goal is to summon a Demon Lord who can aid them in their respective personal struggles. The ritual unexpectedly succeeds in summoning Diablo, the in-game avatar of Takuma Sakamoto, who arrives in their world with all his powers intact.
Shera and Rem both attempt to use an Enslavement Ritual to bind Diablo to their will. However, due to the magic reflection effect of The Demon King’s Ring worn by Diablo, the spell is reversed, and instead Shera and Rem become magically bound to him. This event marks the beginning of Shera’s journey with Diablo, during which she seeks freedom, companionship, and personal growth while confronting the challenges of her past.
Abilities
Shera L. Greenwood possesses a rare combination of natural talent, magical affinity, and physical prowess that sets her apart as both a gifted archer and a capable magic user.
As an Elf, she excels in long-range combat, particularly with the bow. From a young age, she demonstrated exceptional proficiency in archery and was evaluated as a Level 40 Archer by the Kingdom of Greenwood’s Adventurers Association. By Volume 5, she is appraised by Rose as being at least a Level 70 Archer, reflecting her continued growth and combat experience.
In addition to her archery skills, Shera also displays unexpected aptitude for magic, particularly Summoning. Despite having no formal training in mana manipulation, Shera instinctively masters the technique simply by serving as a practice model for Diablo as he attempts to remove her slave collar, a feat that took even Medios, a skilled instructor, 12 years to learn. Shera is able to replicate the technique perfectly on Rem the same night, showcasing her remarkable magical intuition.
As a Summoner, she is classified as a Level 30 Magician, with an affinity for the Fire element. Her first official summon is a creature called Turkey Shot, which she commands with pinpoint accuracy. In a demonstration orchestrated by Diablo, she successfully splits a coin in half using the summon’s perspective to guide her aim executed flawlessly on her first attempt.
Shera also possesses the rare innate ability to see the flow of magical power, a gift she had since childhood and mastered without any formal instruction. This ability, known as Aura Vision, allows her to perceive the circulation of mana in others—making her a potentially formidable support or combat strategist.
In Volume 8, Shera begins training in melee combat and shows promise in this field as well, suggesting she has untapped potential as a Warrior in addition to her primary role as an Archer and Summoner.
Relationships
Keera L. Greenwood
Keera is one of Shera’s older brothers and a member of the Greenwood royal family. After the death of their eldest sibling, Keera sought to continue the bloodline by making Shera bear his child. This disturbing intention drove Shera to flee her homeland. Despite the emotional trauma he caused her, Shera struggles to harbor hatred toward Keera and even mourns him after his death.
Diablo
Diablo is the Demon Lord whom Shera and Rem summoned at Starfall Tower. Due to a magic reflection, Shera became magically bound to him instead of enslaving him. Over time, her relationship with Diablo evolves from companion and protector to romantic partner. Shera openly expresses her affection for him and eventually marries Diablo in Volume 7.
Rem Galleu
Rem is a Pantherian and fellow Summoner who met Shera at Starfall Tower. The two performed the summoning ritual together, resulting in the appearance of Diablo. Despite their contrasting personalities Rem being reserved and serious while Shera is cheerful and affectionate the two girls form a strong friendship as they travel and grow together.
