Aíma is a character in the anime and manga series Children of the Whales. She is a mysterious and enigmatic figure with a deep connection to the Nous of the Mud Whale. Aíma is also revealed to be the twin sister of Neri, sharing a unique bond with both her sibling and the spiritual entity that governs the island.
Personality

Appearance in Anime
Aíma possesses a personality that contrasts sharply with that of her twin sister, Neri. While Neri is quiet, reserved, and often withdrawn, Aíma is bold, expressive, and unpredictable. She tends to behave in a more chaotic and free-spirited manner, unafraid to speak her mind or act impulsively. Unlike Neri, Aíma is more open about the hidden truths of the Mud Whale and is willing to display her powers without hesitation. Her directness and assertiveness set her apart as a more confrontational presence within the story.
Appearance
Aíma closely resembles her twin sister Neri in facial features and build, but is visually distinguished by her dark red hair and the black dress she wears. These contrasting details reflect the difference in their personalities and roles within the story.
Plot
Aíma first appears following Neri’s absorption into the Nous. She presents herself to Chakuro and offers to reveal the secrets of the Mud Whale on the condition that he survives the impending battle. After delivering her message, she grows wings and ascends into the air, laughing as she disappears from sight.
During the second attack on the Mud Whale, Aíma reappears, singing atop a massive grey fish that rises from the Sea of Sand. As she sings, her wings emerge once more, and glowing hands begin to form and spread across the surface of the Mud Whale, signifying a mysterious and powerful influence over the ship and its inhabitants.
Relationships
Neri
Aíma is the twin sister of Neri. While Neri is quiet and reserved, Aíma is outspoken and unpredictable, making their personalities stark opposites. Despite their contrasting behavior, they are both spiritually connected to the Nous of the Mud Whale and play integral roles in guiding and influencing its fate.
Chakuro
Aíma interacts directly with Chakuro, offering to reveal the secrets of the Mud Whale if he survives an upcoming battle. Though her intentions are cryptic, this encounter marks a significant point in Chakuro’s journey toward uncovering the truth behind the Mud Whale and the Nous.
