Hina moves from the city to the countryside at the beginning of the story when her family relocates to her mother’s hometown. Although she originally plans to join a craft or art club, she unexpectedly meets Yuuki Kuroiwa, the Breakwater Club president, who tricks her into helping with fishing—and eventually pressures her into joining the club.

Unfamiliar with the ocean, sea creatures, and outdoor life in general, Hina initially struggles with the messiness and unpredictability of fishing. However, thanks to the welcoming nature of her clubmates and her own curiosity, she begins to find joy and pride in learning new skills, building friendships, and overcoming personal fears.
