Appearance
Kon has both a human form and a Kitsune form. In her human appearance, she resembles a young girl with long blonde hair styled in braids and bright blue eyes. She wears fingerless gloves and maintains a youthful, slightly tomboyish look.
Her signature outfit includes a white hoodie with fox-like ears that help conceal her actual fox ears. The hoodie features black stripes along the sleeves and has the letters “FO” stitched on the front. On the left side of her hood, she wears two decorative hair clips, one is a simple pink clip, and the other is shaped like an ice cream cone with blue ice cream and sprinkles. The back of the hoodie is adorned with a graphic print of a stylized animal.
Kon pairs her hoodie with black leggings that have pink stripes down the sides and wears white sneakers. In the anime adaptation, she also wears grey shorts over her leggings, completing her casual and functional look.

Personality
Kon initially appears emotionally detached, but beneath her quiet exterior lies a girl desperate for acceptance and praise particularly from Yoko Inari, whom she reveres as a maternal figure. Her deep loyalty to Inari stems from years of emotional manipulation and indoctrination, leaving her emotionally dependent on her superior’s approval. Kon becomes visibly agitated when Inari ignores her and reacts with intense anger when others speak poorly of her, reflecting her distorted perception of loyalty and self-worth.
Kon is not particularly intelligent or emotionally stable, often struggling to understand her feelings. Her greatest desire is to be seen as a “good girl,” and she will go to extreme lengths to uphold that role. Any threat to her ability to fulfill that expectation sends her into confusion or rage. This emotional instability is especially evident when she reacts jealously to Kabane praising Aya, believing her place in his life is being stolen. Her response lashing out violently stems not from cruelty, but from a warped understanding of relationships shaped by Inari’s emotional exploitation.
Despite her troubled behavior, Kon is fundamentally kind-hearted. She expresses genuine remorse after hurting Aya and Kabane, and is confused by the “pain in her chest,” not recognizing it as jealousy due to her lack of emotional literacy. Her development begins when she slowly opens up to Kabane and the others, forming new bonds outside of Inari’s control. These new relationships help her question the loyalty she once clung to, and she eventually starts to resist Inari’s orders.
It is later revealed that Kon’s memories were altered by Inari to turn her into a compliant servant. Upon regaining her true memories, Kon is overwhelmed with grief and fury toward Inari for manipulating her and destroying her past. From this point on, she becomes determined to break away from Inari’s influence and reclaim her identity.
Kon often refers to herself in the third person, a childlike speech habit that reflects her stunted emotional development and longing for identity.
Background
Kon is a Nasu Kitsune and the last known survivor of the Ishimori (石森) Clan. As the youngest member of her family, she was often scolded and regarded as troublesome, which left her feeling isolated. Seeking comfort and companionship, she began speaking with “Oina,” a Kitsune entrusted with containing the dangerous energy of the Killing Stone. Though Kon was too young to fully understand Oina’s words, she found solace in her presence and grew deeply attached to the gentle sound of her voice. Over time, a meaningful bond developed between the two.
Tragedy struck when Oina’s health deteriorated as a result of her prolonged exposure to the Killing Stone. In desperation, Kon pleaded with her family and tribe for help. However, her pleas were coldly dismissed they accepted Oina’s decline as the inevitable fate of those chosen to bear the burden of the Killing Stone. Refusing to accept this, Kon ran through the mountains in search of a way to save her, but found no answers.
Upon returning home, Kon encountered a horrifying scene: a powerful Kitsune devouring both Oina and the Killing Stone. This same Kitsune had already slaughtered Kon’s family and the entire Ishimori Clan. In a twisted act of cruelty masked as mercy, the Kitsune chose to spare Kon’s life, intending to consume her later when she had matured. To ensure control, the Kitsune manipulated Kon’s memories transferring the deep affection she once held for Oina onto herself thereby transforming Kon into a loyal and obedient servant. This Kitsune was revealed to be Yoko Inari, who raised Kon under false pretenses, exploiting her loyalty for years.
Powers & Abilities
As a Nasu Kitsune, Kon possesses a range of supernatural abilities typical of her species. Though still developing in strength and control, she has demonstrated notable proficiency in both offensive and deceptive techniques.
Etymology
Kon’s given name 紺 (Kon) is written with the kanji for “navy blue.” The name may reflect her cool, subdued personality at the start of the series, as well as her emotional depth and the somber tone of her past.
