Prince Akatsuki

Prince Akatsuki (プリンス 暁,  Purinsu Akatsuki) is one of the main characters in the anime and light novel series Chōjin-Kokosei-tachi wa Isekai demo Yoyū de Ikinuku Yōdesu! (High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another World!). He is a world-renowned prestidigitator (master illusionist and escape artist) and one of the seven genius high school students known collectively as the Seven Prodigies who are transported to a medieval fantasy world following a plane crash.

Appearance in Anime

Prince Akatsuki is typically confident, flamboyant, and boastful traits stemming from his unparalleled skill in illusion and escape artistry. He takes great pride in his performances, fully aware that his illusions are virtually impossible to decipher or reverse. This self-assuredness often manifests in a showman like attitude, especially when displaying his talents.

Upon his initial arrival in the fantasy world of Freyjagard, however, Akatsuki struggled to adjust. Removed from the familiar environment of modern civilization, he became timid, emotionally unstable, and prone to tantrums. Despite this difficult transition, he eventually adapted to his new surroundings and regained his confident personality, becoming an asset to the local villagers.

Interestingly, Akatsuki shows little to no interest in studying real magic, even though mastering it could enhance the realism and effectiveness of his illusions. His preference to rely solely on his own skills highlights his pride in his craft as a prestidigitator.

Trivia

    • A recurring gag throughout the series involves Akatsuki being mistaken for a girl, largely due to his high-pitched voice and feminine style of clothing. These misunderstandings often lead to comedic situations, with Akatsuki reacting in varying degrees of embarrassment and frustration.
      • He is commonly addressed by his family name, Akatsuki, rather than “Prince,” particularly in the fantasy world of Freyjagard, in order to avoid confusion within the medieval setting.
