Sajuna Inui

Sajuna Inui (乾 紗寿叶, Inui Sajuna), is a supporting character in the anime and manga series Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru (My Dress-Up Darling). First appearing in Volume 2, she is a well-known online cosplayer who goes by the alias “Juju.” Despite her petite stature and youthful appearance, Sajuna is a serious and passionate cosplayer with a sharp eye for detail and a strong love for magical girl aesthetics.

After seeing photos of Marin Kitagawa’s Shizuku-tan cosplay online, Sajuna tracks down Wakana Gojo, the creator of the costume, and requests his help in crafting her next cosplay outfit. Her introduction marks the beginning of a new creative collaboration that challenges the characters’ skills and expands their views on cosplay, artistic expression, and self-image.

Appearance in anime

Sajuna is a student attending an all-girls high school and is older than she initially appears due to her small build and youthful features. Known in the cosplay community as “Juju,” she has amassed a respectable following thanks to her high-quality portrayals of characters especially those from the magical girl genre.

Despite her fame online, Sajuna keeps her cosplay life hidden from her school peers and family, except for her younger sister Shinju, who often assists her. Sajuna’s decision to reach out to Gojo stems from her desire to bring her next cosplay to life with even more precision and authenticity. Although skeptical of Marin and Gojo at first, she gradually warms up to them and becomes part of their creative circle.

Appearance

Sajuna is notably short and slim, with a childlike appearance that contrasts with her actual age. She has pinkish-purple hair, usually styled in twin buns or loose pigtails, and large magenta eyes. When out of cosplay, she dresses modestly and casually, often wearing oversized hoodies or simple school attire.

In cosplay, however, Sajuna undergoes a dramatic transformation. With flawless makeup, wigs, and tailored costumes, she convincingly portrays elegant and mature characters, showcasing her incredible talent and dedication.

Personality

Sajuna is initially guarded, blunt, and prideful, especially when it comes to her craft. She takes cosplay very seriously and holds high standards for herself and others. At first, she views Marin and Gojo with suspicion, assuming their casual approach might disrespect the art form she treasures.

However, beneath her aloof exterior is someone deeply passionate, thoughtful, and earnest. As she spends more time with Marin and Gojo, she begins to lower her guard, revealing a caring older sister and a genuine lover of creativity. Sajuna can be shy about expressing emotions and struggles to accept compliments, but she values sincerity and effort above all.

Role in the Story

Sajuna reaches out to Gojo after being impressed by Marin’s Shizuku-tan cosplay, which he helped craft. She meets with him secretly, asking for his help in making her dream cosplay come true. Though skeptical of Marin’s involvement, she agrees to collaborate, and the trio begins work on her next costume.

  • Creative Collaboration
Despite her initial coldness, Sajuna is deeply impressed by Gojo’s craftsmanship and Marin’s enthusiasm. During their time working together, she comes to appreciate their sincerity and dedication. The group dynamic evolves into mutual respect and creative synergy, and Sajuna herself begins to explore cosplaying characters she once deemed too different from her image.

  • Growth and Bonding
Through her collaboration with Gojo and Marin, Sajuna becomes more open to trying new ideas and bonding with others. She realizes that cosplay is not only about perfection but also about joy, community, and shared love for characters. Her development adds emotional depth to the narrative, especially as she supports her sister Shinju in her own cosplay journey.

Relationships

Wakana Gojo
Initially treated as a business partner, Sajuna eventually comes to respect Gojo’s meticulous skill and kind nature. Though she rarely shows it openly, she appreciates his support and considers him a reliable ally in her cosplay endeavors.

Marin Kitagawa
Though skeptical of Marin’s flashy appearance and casual approach at first, Sajuna quickly discovers that Marin is a genuine and devoted fan. Their differences complement each other, and over time, Sajuna develops a close friendship with Marin, often engaging in playful banter and cosplay discussions.

Shinju Inui
Sajuna’s younger sister and closest confidante. Sajuna is incredibly protective of Shinju and often hides her own vulnerabilities to appear strong. Their bond deepens when Shinju reveals her interest in cosplay, and Sajuna becomes both supportive and emotionally moved by her sister’s courage.
