Ryūji Kanzaki (神崎 隆二, Kanzaki Ryūji) is one of the class representatives of Class 1-B at Advanced Nurturing High School in the Classroom of the Elite series. As a prominent figure in Class 1-B, he plays a key role in strategic decision-making and interactions with other classes. Unlike his classmates who follow Honami Ichika, Kanzaki is known for having his own independent views and logical approach to conflicts and challenges within the school.
Personality

Appearance in Anime
Ryūji Kanzaki is a diligent and serious student who maintains a strong sense of responsibility and willingness to assist others. He has been shown to be helpful and considerate, particularly when he supported Honami Ichinose in handling Ken Sudō’s case. Unlike many students from higher-ranked classes, Ryūji does not look down on Class D, demonstrating a friendly and respectful attitude toward them.
He is known for his reserved nature, preferring to stay out of the spotlight rather than asserting himself in group discussions. Although he remains popular among female students, he does not actively seek attention and is often described as someone who speaks very little. Despite this, he is deeply loyal and will stand up for his class when necessary. He is not afraid to voice meaningful questions that others hesitate to ask and will assert his dominance when defending his classmates against negative rumors or unjust treatment.
While Ryūji generally maintains a calm and composed presence, he can show an aggressive and confrontational side when dealing with individuals he finds suspicious, such as Kiyotaka Ayanokōji or Masayoshi Hashimoto. His emotions become particularly strained when Honami or his classmates are in distress, leaving him constantly stressed and unable to feel at ease until the situation is resolved.
Appearance
Ryūji Kanzaki is a young man of average height with violet-bluish hair and purple eyes. His distinct hair color and eye shade give him a unique appearance among his classmates.
He is most commonly seen wearing the standard Advanced Nurturing High School uniform, maintaining a clean and orderly look that reflects his serious and composed personality.
Abilities
Intellectual Abilities
As a student of Class B, Ryūji Kanzaki possesses a high level of intelligence and strong analytical skills. He has demonstrated keen observational abilities, as seen when he correctly deduced that three boys from Class C could have easily overpowered Ken Sudō based on their superior athletic abilities. His theory was later proven correct when it was revealed that the attack was a setup designed to frame Sudō and get him expelled. This showcases Ryūji’s ability to assess situations logically and identify hidden motives behind conflicts.
Etymology
The name Ryūji (隆二) is composed of the kanji 隆 (ryū), meaning “noble” or “prosperous,” and 二 (ji), meaning “two.” This combination may symbolize growth, success, or a second-in-command figure, reflecting his role as a key member of Class 1-B who supports his peers but does not actively seek leadership.
His surname, Kanzaki (神崎), consists of the kanji 神 (kan), meaning “god,” and 崎 (saki/zaki), meaning “cape” or “peninsula.” This name could imply divine protection or strength, possibly alluding to his composed and observant nature in navigating conflicts within Advanced Nurturing High School.
