Alisa Ilinichina Amiella

Alisa Ilinichina Amiella (Алиса Ильиничина Амиэлла) (Alisa Ilynichna Omela in the Japanese version, Алиса Ильинична Омела), is a major character in the God Eater series, first introduced as a New-Type God Eater from the Fenrir Russian Branch. She is a highly skilled warrior wielding a New-Type God Arc, allowing her to switch between blade and gun forms seamlessly, making her a valuable asset in the fight against the Aragami. Despite her impressive combat abilities, she struggles with severe PTSD due to a traumatic encounter with an Aragami in her past, affecting her combat performance and interactions with others.

Alisa plays a significant role in the events of God Eater, undergoing substantial character development as she learns to confront her fears and find her own strength. In God Eater 2, she joins Cradle, a traveling branch of Fenrir alongside Lindow Amamiya, Soma Schicksal, and the Protagonist, focusing on humanity’s long-term survival. Additionally, she appears as a main character in God Eater -the 2nd break-, where she arrives in a hidden settlement called Nemos Diana, further expanding her story beyond the main games.

Appearance in anime

Alisa was born and raised in Russia, growing up in a world ravaged by the Aragami. As a child, she witnessed her parents’ deaths during an Aragami attack, a traumatic event that left her deeply scarred. Determined to avenge her parents and fight against the Aragami, she trained to become a God Eater, showing exceptional combat skills and adaptability with a New-Type God Arc.

After completing her training, she was transferred to the Far East Branch of Fenrir, where she was expected to bolster the ranks with her New-Type capabilities. However, despite her outward confidence, her psychological trauma begins to surface during combat, making her unstable in high-stress situations. Over the course of the story, she is forced to confront her past, overcome her weaknesses, and find a new sense of purpose among her comrades.

Appearance

Alisa has a striking and elegant appearance, characterized by her long silver hair, deep violet eyes, and fair complexion. She typically wears a modified Fenrir uniform, consisting of a red military-style cap, a short plaid skirt, a black sleeveless top, and detached sleeves, giving her a stylish yet practical look suited for battle.

Her New-Type God Arc is large and intimidating, reflecting her strength and adaptability as a God Eater. As the story progresses, her appearance remains consistent, though subtle changes in her expression and posture reflect her emotional growth and increased confidence.

Personality

Alisa initially presents herself as confident, disciplined, and somewhat arrogant, often showing pride in her abilities as a New-Type God Eater. However, beneath this strong exterior, she is deeply vulnerable and haunted by trauma, which manifests in panic attacks and moments of emotional instability when faced with Aragami resembling the one that killed her parents.

Her struggles with PTSD cause her to push others away, as she fears appearing weak in front of her comrades. However, as she spends more time with the Protagonist, Lindow, and the rest of the team, she slowly learns to trust others, allowing herself to heal and grow.

By God Eater 2, Alisa has become more mature and composed, no longer paralyzed by fear and instead fighting for the future of humanity alongside Cradle. She retains her sarcastic and sharp-witted personality, but she is far more open and supportive toward her allies, proving her growth as both a warrior and a person.

Role in the Story

  • Transfer to the Far East Branch
At the start of God Eater, Alisa is introduced as a highly skilled but emotionally fragile recruit sent from Fenrir’s Russian Branch. She is confident in her New-Type abilities, believing herself superior to many standard God Eaters. However, her trauma surfaces in battle, leading to a major breakdown that nearly costs her life.

  • Struggles with PTSD & Growth as a Warrior
Alisa’s trauma becomes a critical part of her character arc, as she is forced to confront her fears with the help of Lindow, the Protagonist, and Soma. Though she initially refuses to acknowledge her weakness, she eventually accepts her vulnerability and begins working to overcome it. Through several battles and emotional struggles, she learns to rely on her comrades rather than trying to face everything alone. This transformation strengthens her resolve, making her one of the most dependable God Eaters in the series.

  • Joining Cradle in God Eater 2
By the time of God Eater 2, Alisa has fully embraced her role as a protector of humanity, joining Cradle, a group dedicated to finding solutions for long-term survival. She works alongside Lindow, Soma, and the Protagonist, continuing to fight against new Aragami threats while also offering guidance to newer recruits.

  • The Nemos Diana Incident in God Eater -the 2nd break-
In God Eater -the 2nd break-, Alisa plays a key role in an isolated conflict within Nemos Diana, a hidden settlement. Her journey in this storyline further expands her character development and relationships, showcasing how far she has come since her early struggles.

Relationships

Protagonist (God Eater Game)
Alisa initially sees the Protagonist as just another recruit, but over time, they develop a deep bond built on trust and mutual growth. Depending on the player’s choices, she can even become a potential romantic interest in the game.

Lindow Amamiya
Lindow acts as a mentor and older brother figure to Alisa, helping her work through her trauma with patience and understanding. His disappearance deeply affects her, but his return in God Eater 2 reassures her that people can overcome even the darkest times.

Soma Schicksal
Soma and Alisa share a complex relationship, as both struggle with emotional isolation and the weight of their pasts. Over time, they develop a mutual understanding, though Soma often teases her about her strong-willed personality.

Julius Visconti (God Eater 2)
In God Eater 2, Alisa develops a respectful relationship with Julius, admiring his leadership and dedication to humanity’s survival. Though they don’t always agree, they share a common goal of protecting those who cannot fight.
