He is a highly intelligent and resourceful student who arrives at Academy Island, a prestigious institution where students compete in strategic games to earn rankings and privileges. Despite being an ordinary transfer student, Hiroto unexpectedly achieves the rank of Seven Star, the highest status in the school, through a combination of wit, deception, and calculated moves. As he navigates the challenges of the academy, he becomes entangled in complex rivalries, alliances, and mind games, using his cunning and strategic prowess to maintain his position while uncovering the island’s hidden truths.
Appearance

Appearance in Anime
Hiroto Shinohara has long black hair and brown eyes, giving him a composed and somewhat enigmatic presence. His defining feature is his naturally expressionless face, which makes it difficult for others to read his emotions. This trait becomes especially advantageous during the strategic mind games on Academy Island, as his poker face allows him to deceive opponents with ease. Whether he is telling the truth or fabricating a lie, his neutral expression remains unchanged, making him an unpredictable and formidable player in the high-stakes competitions of the academy.

While he appears cold and calculating, he is not entirely ruthless he has a strong sense of loyalty to those he trusts. His ultimate goal is to find a certain girl he once knew, which serves as his primary motivation for coming to Academy Island.
Background
Little is known about Hiroto’s past, except that he has been searching for a girl from his past who disappeared. His arrival at Academy Island is part of his mission to locate her. However, due to a series of misunderstandings and fortunate events, he is mistakenly recognized as a Seven Star holder, the highest rank in the academy’s hierarchy. To maintain this status and avoid suspicion, Hiroto must continually outsmart his opponents and deceive the entire academy.
Relationships
Sarasa Saionji / Rina Akabane
Hiroto first encounters Sarasa Saionji when he gets lost on his way to Eimei Private Academy on his first day at Academy Island. Unfamiliar with how to use his terminal, he relies on Sarasa’s help to navigate. However, due to an accidental misunderstanding, Sarasa assumes that Hiroto is attempting to violate the rules just to force a duel. Since only the student with fewer stars can initiate a challenge, she forces him into a duel despite his reluctance. To his surprise, Hiroto ends up defeating Sarasa, despite his initial intent to lose the match.
Following the school’s speech ceremony, Sarasa confronts Hiroto, questioning his motives and why he chose not to expose her true identity as Rina Akabane. In response, Hiroto reveals his own deception, admitting that his Seven Star status is a lie. Realizing they both carry secrets, the two form a partnership dedicated to deceiving the rest of Academy Island, working together to maintain their fabricated identities.
Hiroto later confesses that he came to Academy Island in search of a mysterious girl from his past who disappeared years ago, suspecting that she is somewhere on the island. This revelation leads him to forge a pact with Rina, as both have their own reasons for navigating the complex web of lies and competitions on the island.
In Chapter 5 of Volume 1, during a moment of vulnerability, Sarasa attempts to kiss an injured Hiroto. However, Hiroto, confused by the situation, fails to recognize her intentions, believing that what he needed at that moment was immediate medical attention rather than romantic advances.
