Personality

Mizuka is a gentle and caring individual who deeply values the lives of others and strongly opposes killing. She is disgusted by violence, even more so when she is forced to take a life herself. Soft-spoken and reserved, she frequently apologizes, often believing she deserves punishment for even the smallest infractions, such as when the hands of Althing grope her, which she perceives as a form of retribution.

Three hundred years ago, Mizuka was timid and easily bullied, with Taketora being her primary tormentor. She believed that becoming a soldier would allow her to stay close to Licht and receive his protection. However, this dependency was later recognized by Jail as an “unhealthy attachment”, as Mizuka relied on Licht for emotional and physical security rather than developing her own strength.

When consumed by bloodlust, Mizuka undergoes a drastic transformation, embracing a desire for battle and a longing to die at Licht’s hands. In this state, she shows no remorse and becomes willing to kill indiscriminately, including women and children, even going so far as to threaten a young boy to provoke Licht into unleashing his full power.

As the story progresses, Mizuka undergoes significant character development, learning to stand on her own thanks to Jail’s words about how conviction makes a person stronger. She grows beyond her past self, who would run away and cry, admitting that she despised her former weakness. Her newfound resolve becomes so strong that even the Special Service’s drugs, which once triggered her bloodlust no longer awaken her second personality, signifying her growth into a more independent and determined fighter.

Abilities and Power

Mizuka is one of the Seven Legendary Red Barons, possessing formidable combat skills with a specialization in precision shooting and relentless pursuit. Her initial count is 16,000, representing her persistence; however, when she activates Schmelman’s bloodlust genes, she undergoes a personality shift, causing her count to double to 32,000. This transformation drastically enhances her combat prowess but comes at the risk of her losing sanity.

Her Ballot manifests as her cybernetic left arm, which replaces the original limb that Licht severed during one of his destructive rampages. This artificial arm is longer than her natural right arm, providing her with enhanced aiming capabilities and improving her proficiency with firearms. Among the Seven Barons, Mizuka is known for having the widest arsenal, making extensive use of various weapons during battle.

Mizuka’s Pursuit (追撃, Tsuigeki) ability grants her exceptional speed and precision, allowing her to execute advanced tracking techniques. One of her key abilities is Bullet Manipulation, which enables her bullets to continuously track her targets until they hit. As an expert markswoman, Mizuka’s combat style revolves around gunplay, utilizing a variety of firearms to overwhelm opponents. To fully maximize her Pursuit ability, she employs multiple weapons at once, ensuring that several “pursuers” are constantly locked onto her enemies.

Her arsenal includes a Six Shooter, a single-handed pistol that she wields casually when not taking a fight seriously or when toying with opponents under Schmelman’s bloodlust influence. This is notably seen when she forces Lyne and Hina into a deadly game of Russian Roulette. When engaged in serious combat, she switches to dual SMGs, using them to rain down continuous gunfire while taking advantage of her ability to track enemies with pursuing bullets. The ammunition from these submachine guns is powerful enough to pierce through solid steel armor and thick concrete. Her most destructive weapon, however, is her high-caliber sniper rifle, which fires incredibly heavy and powerful rounds. The force of her sniper shots is so overwhelming that even Eins of the New Class A, a being deemed superior to the original Red Barons, was completely unable to block or deflect her shots.

In addition to her lethal arsenal, Mizuka possesses Bloodlust, a state in which she activates Schmelman’s genes to significantly increase her count and overall abilities. However, the higher her count rises, the greater the risk of losing her sanity, making her an unpredictable and highly dangerous opponent. Another defining feature of her combat style is Flight, which she achieves through a specialized flight harness strapped to her back. This harness is equipped with six miniature thrusters, generating light blue flame-like wings that grant her aerial superiority. By maintaining a bird’s-eye view of the battlefield, she gains a significant tactical advantage as a sniper and gunner, making her especially difficult to counter.

With her unparalleled precision, advanced tracking abilities, and devastating firepower, Mizuka stands as one of the most dangerous Red Barons, relentlessly hunting down her targets with unwavering persistence.
