Last Order (打ち止め, Uchidome (Rasuto Ōdā), lit. “The End”), is the 20001st Sister, a Misaka Mikoto clone created as part of the Sisters Project for the Level 6 Shift Experiment. Unlike the other clones, Last Order is unique, as she was designed to act as a failsafe, overseeing the Misaka Network and preventing critical errors within the clone system. However, due to an incomplete development process, she retains a younger appearance and a childlike personality, making her drastically different from her older clone counterparts.
Last Order plays a pivotal role in Toaru Majutsu no Index, particularly in Accelerator’s character arc, as she forms a deep bond with him after their fateful encounter. Through her innocence, kindness, and unwavering trust, she challenges Accelerator’s worldview, ultimately leading him down the path of redemption. Despite being a victim of Academy City’s scientific experiments, Last Order remains cheerful and optimistic, proving to be a symbol of hope amidst the darkness of Academy City.
Background

Appearance in anime
Last Order was created as the final unit of the Misaka Clone Army, designed to serve as a command unit for the Misaka Network. However, before she could be fully integrated, a virus was implanted in her system by rogue researchers, intending to manipulate the entire clone network for their own purposes. Due to the experiment’s abrupt shutdown, Last Order escaped her containment, leading her to wander Academy City alone until she encountered Accelerator, the very esper who had previously slaughtered thousands of her clones in the Level 6 Shift Project.
Rather than fear or resent Accelerator, Last Order immediately trusts him, speaking to him in a playful and affectionate manner. Despite his attempts to push her away, she persists in staying by his side, ultimately forcing him to confront his past atrocities. Their unexpected bond leads Accelerator to risk his life to save her from the virus threatening to corrupt the Misaka Network, marking the beginning of his transformation from a ruthless killer to a protector.
Following these events, Last Order continues to stay with Accelerator, acting as his moral anchor and keeping him grounded in his humanity. Though she is often playful and mischievous, she is also intelligent and perceptive, providing key insights into Academy City’s dark secrets through her connection to the Misaka Network.
Appearance
As a Misaka clone, Last Order retains the same facial features as Misaka Mikoto, but due to her early-stage development, she appears much younger than her older clone counterparts. She has light brown hair cut short and amber-colored eyes, identical to the other Sisters.
Unlike the standard-issue military uniforms worn by the other clones, Last Order wears a loose-fitting white dress and sandals, giving her a more innocent and carefree look. Her childlike appearance contrasts sharply with the grim circumstances of her creation, emphasizing her role as a symbol of hope and change in the story.
Personality
Last Order is playful, energetic, and highly expressive, standing in stark contrast to the emotionless and monotone demeanor of the other Misaka clones. Due to her incomplete growth, she behaves far more like a child, often speaking in the third person and frequently teasing those around her. She is particularly affectionate toward Accelerator, constantly clinging to him and playfully calling him “Protector”.
Despite her cheerful nature, Last Order is highly intelligent, possessing an innate understanding of the Misaka Network and Academy City’s scientific operations. She can relay critical information through the clone system, making her an important figure in battles involving the Science Side. Additionally, she has an unwavering sense of trust and belief in others, particularly in Accelerator, whom she sees as a good person, even when he doubts himself.
While she often acts immature, Last Order has moments of deep emotional wisdom, proving that she understands far more than she lets on. Her unshakable optimism and refusal to see people as purely good or evil make her a transformative force in the lives of those around her, particularly Accelerator.
Role in the Story
-
Encounter with Accelerator and the Start of His Redemption
Last Order first appears when she escapes from a research facility, unknowingly carrying a corrupted program that could compromise the entire Misaka Network. While wandering Academy City, she meets Accelerator, who is shocked by her cheerful personality despite her being a clone of the very beings he once killed mercilessly. Though Accelerator initially rejects her presence, he is soon forced to protect her when rogue researchers attempt to use her as a tool for their own experiments. This results in a life-threatening battle, where Accelerator nearly dies saving her, marking the beginning of his transformation from a ruthless killer to a guardian figure. -
Becoming Accelerator’s Moral Anchor
Following her rescue, Last Order remains by Accelerator’s side, helping him recover from his injuries and emotional scars. She provides him with a reason to live, as she is one of the few individuals who sees him as more than just a monster. Over time, she becomes his closest companion, often lightheartedly teasing him while keeping him grounded in his humanity. -
Ties to the Misaka Network and Academy City Conspiracies
As the command unit of the Misaka Network, Last Order plays a crucial role in several major events, often serving as the gateway for critical information about Academy City’s experiments. Though she rarely fights, her presence is vital in preventing large-scale disasters, particularly those that involve the Sisters or scientific conspiracies. Her bond with Accelerator continues to develop throughout the series, proving that her existence is what ultimately saves him from the darkness of his past.
Relationships
Accelerator
Last Order is the most important person in Accelerator’s life, serving as his emotional anchor and moral compass. Despite his violent past and cold personality, she completely trusts him, never doubting his goodness, even when he doubts himself. Her childlike innocence and playfulness contrast with Accelerator’s aggressive nature, making their relationship one of the most meaningful and transformative bonds in the series.
Misaka Clones and Misaka Mikoto
As part of the Misaka Network, Last Order is connected to all other Misaka clones, though she stands out due to her unique role as a command unit. While she has limited direct interactions with Misaka Mikoto, their connection through the Network suggests an unspoken bond, as Mikoto is the original template for all the Sisters.
Yomikawa Aiho
Yomikawa, one of Accelerator’s caretakers, also looks after Last Order, acting as a mother figure to both of them. Though not directly involved in Academy City’s darker projects, she plays a key role in providing Last Order with a normal life.
