Personality

Initially timid and insecure, Yugi transforms over time into a brave and self-reliant individual, supported by his friends and empowered by his connection with Atem. Background and Story

Yugi Mutou begins as a shy, soft-spoken high school student who has a deep passion for games. Often alone and bullied, he struggles with self-confidence until he solves the Millennium Puzzle, an ancient Egyptian artifact that brings significant changes to his life. Completing the puzzle releases the spirit of an ancient Egyptian Pharaoh, known as Dark Yugi (later revealed to be named Atem), who comes to share Yugi’s body. This spirit embodies courage and strength, defending Yugi and his friends by engaging enemies in Shadow Games with life-altering consequences.
