— Anya Forger

Anya Forger(アーニャ・フォージャー,Ānya Fōjā) is a central character in theSPY x FAMILYseries. Previously identified as Test Subject “007” (被験体”007″,Hikentai “007”), she possesses telepathic abilities, which were the result of experiments carried out by a mysterious organization.

Anya is currently a student at Cecile Hall, located within Eden Academy, and is the adopted daughter of Loid Forger and Yor Forger.

Anya’s full appearance.

Anya Forger is a petite young girl characterized by her fair skin and striking green eyes. When she first encounters Loid, he notes that she appears to be around four to five years old at most. Her large, oval-shaped green eyes are accentuated by prominent eyelashes, contributing to her expressive look. Anya has shoulder-length, light pink hair that curls inward, complemented by a fringe that brushes just above her eyes, along with a small ahoge atop her head. Although Anya is noticeably shorter than her peers, which often leads to teasing from Damian and his friends, Damian himself perceives her as increasingly attractive.

During their initial meeting at the orphanage, Anya wore a simple black dress adorned with a white ribbon at the front, paired with white folded-down socks and black shoes. This outfit is a common choice for her at home. She also sports two black hair ornaments with bright yellow accents resembling small horns, which she is rarely seen without—even during sleep. The only occasions where she appears without them are in her past flashbacks and at the end-of-class gala, where her hair is styled into small buns instead.

At Eden Academy, Anya dons the standard school uniform, which includes white knee-high socks and black Mary Janes. She carries a brown school bag with a sheep keychain attached. During physical education classes, she ties her hair back with a red headband while wearing the gym uniform, which consists of white socks and gym shoes.

In her younger years, Anya’s hair was slightly shorter, and she typically wore clothing that resembled scrubs.

Anya Forger is a highly impressionable young child, shaped significantly by the people around her. Her telepathic abilities lead her to mimic Loid and learn how to punch from Yor. Having been ostracized due to her powers and moving through various foster homes, Anya quickly gravitated towards Twilight, viewing him as a genuine spy. Since her adoption, she has been eager to accompany Loid on his missions, hoping to witness the thrilling spy activities she often sees on television. However, she soon learns about the harsh realities of espionage and tries her best not to interfere with Loid’s work. Despite this, Anya enjoys watching spy cartoons, with her favorite being Spy Wars, and is often captivated by the secret lives of her adoptive parents.

Anya’s behavior often reflects her youthful innocence, as she is actually around five years old, though she pretends to be six after reading Loid’s mind and understanding his need for an older child. Loid, known for his perceptive nature, initially believes she is younger than six. Anya’s demeanor is characterized by her gregarious, trusting, and simple-minded nature, making her easily distracted. Like many children her age, she may not fully understand the implications of her actions or their effects on others. For instance, she opposes Nightfall, fearing that she might become an honor student through rigorous methods. Anya is impulsive, often breaking rules in search of excitement and readily altering plans for personal gains, such as treats or rewards. Despite these tendencies, it is important to note that her actions are typical of a child who may not yet fully grasp the complexities of social interactions.

Anya demonstrates remarkable intelligence and capability, keeping up with an advanced curriculum meant for older children. Although some might view her as lacking intellect for her age, she is, in fact, a gifted and precocious young girl, showcasing impressive skills for her years. She understands certain complex situations and can devise clever strategies, such as befriending Damian, the second son of Loid’s target, to aid in Loid’s mission. For example, she attempts to assist him with an art project and uses her dog, Bond, as a means to gain an invitation to his house after discovering his love for dogs through her telepathy. However, she sometimes fails to realize how her actions affect others, such as inadvertently making Damian dislike her more due to her lack of art skills or underestimating his feelings towards her.

One of Anya’s most notable qualities is her earnest desire to help Loid prevent war and achieve world peace, albeit in an innocent and childlike manner. She puts significant effort into getting closer to Damian, hoping it will assist Loid in his mission, often devising “plans” to foster their friendship.

Anya feeling proud of herself.

Anya’s primary flaw lies in her tendency to focus on immediate desires or goals rather than seeing the bigger picture. Although she is eager to support Loid and excel academically, she often neglects her studies and does not fully understand how her impulsive actions may be perceived by others or their long-term consequences.

Her inclination to conceal her telepathy stems from both directives given by the facility’s doctors and a fear of social rejection and family disruption. This fear influences her tendency to act without considering the broader implications of her choices. For instance, she fails to recognize that revealing her ability to Loid could significantly aid him. Moreover, upon learning about Loid’s dangerous spy mission, she excitedly embraces the opportunity without fully comprehending the potential risks involved.

Despite her shortcomings, Anya’s intentions are often rooted in a genuine desire to help those around her, especially her adoptive parents, whom she assists in their respective jobs without their knowledge of her true capabilities. Her experiences in the facility and the instability of her foster homes have left her with deep-seated abandonment issues, driving her yearning for a loving family. This motivation encourages her to support Loid and Yor in nurturing their family bond. Anya is particularly sensitive to the fear of being replaced or left behind, with discussions about her “real” mother often evoking emotional responses.

Anya’s aversion to studying stems from her past experiences, where she was primarily trained to hone her telepathic abilities. She often relies on reading others’ minds for answers rather than engaging with her studies, which can backfire, especially when she misreads thoughts. Nevertheless, Anya remains relatively persistent, diligent, and optimistic despite her challenges.

While her telepathy allows her to form deep connections—such as calming a distressed cow or saving a drowning child—it also presents difficulties. Her instinctual reactions to the thoughts she picks up can lead her to appear eccentric or unhinged. Additionally, her dependence on her “gift” hampers her ability to function independently. Anya’s lack of situational awareness and social skills further complicates her interactions, leading to misunderstandings with her peers. Despite these struggles, she showcases a kind and empathetic nature.

Anya also has a playful, competitive side. She enjoys showcasing her accomplishments, such as proudly wearing a Stella Star she earned and requesting to be called “Starlight Anya” for a day. Her youthful exuberance and innocent pride make her character all the more relatable.

Abilities and Skills

Telepathy:Anya possesses the ability to read the thoughts of other individuals and animals, visually represented by small sparks around her head. However, her telepathy has its limitations. She struggles to comprehend complicated minds, such as those ofLoid. When confronted with people experiencing intense emotions, likeYuriandFiona, she experiences a sensation akin to heartburn. Additionally, Anya must maintain a certain proximity to her target in order to access their thoughts.

Her involuntary use of telepathy heightens her awareness of her environment. This skill enables her to see through Loid’s disguises, sense danger nearby, and even notice whenYorsneaks into her school to deliver her physical education uniform. It also allows her to detect the presence of her parents’ enemies.

Above Average Intelligence:Despite being only five years old, Anya demonstrates a remarkable ability to pass exams atEden Academy, one of the country’s top elite schools, albeit just barely. This indicates that she possesses a level of intelligence that may be underestimated for a child her age.

Classical Language Proficiency:Anya displays an unusual knowledge of classical languages, which are considered advanced in contemporary society. Although she has only recently been introduced to the subject in school,Loidobserves that she could have performed well on her test if not for numerous spelling errors. After receiving tutoring fromSigmund Authen, Anya significantly improves her skills and secures second place in the subject during her first final exam.

Resourcefulness:Anya demonstrates considerable street smarts, often savingLoidandYorfrom potentially dangerous situations through her quick thinking and resourcefulness. She has been known to outwit Loid despite his keen observational skills and cautious nature, and she effectively utilizesYor‘s protective instincts to her advantage. Anya has even displayed the ability to design traps and create makeshift bombs, showcasing her knowledge gained from her experiences.

Basic Self-Defense:Anya has received basic self-defense training fromYor, which allows her to hold her own in certain situations. She is strong enough to deliver a punch that sendsDamianflying several feet.

Above Average Strength:Despite her small stature, Anya possesses surprising strength. When provoked, she can launch individuals slightly larger than herself with a punch. Notably, she demonstrated her strength by throwing one ofYor‘s stilettos onto a high rooftop.

Special Moves:After a kidnapping incident, Anya expresses her desire to train withYorto become strong enough to handle school challenges.Yoragrees, teaching her several special moves. Anya also invents some of her own techniques during her training.

Weaknesses

Eclipsing:During a phenomenon referred to as “Eclipsing” by the scientists at Anya’s previous laboratory, her telepathic abilities become temporarily inactive during the new moon.

General Skills:Anya demonstrates weaknesses in various areas, including studying, drawing, sports, and music. She often receives single-digit scores on her tests and relies on her telepathy to navigate classes and exams. WithoutLoid‘s strict supervision, she is reluctant to study and struggles significantly during her Eclipsing phase. Even when motivated to study for midterm exams, she barely passes. Anya attempts to play a child-sized violin gifted by Loid, but her poor playing results in snapped strings.

Grammatical Skills:Anya’s grammar is quite poor, often rendering her personal notes indecipherable. Those who see her writing frequently compare it to a collection of scrawls.

Academic Performance:Anya’s academic abilities are subpar, as evidenced by her consistently low scores on tests atEden Academy. She tends to over-rely on her telepathy, especially when stressed, using it to answer homework questions and sometimes to cheat on tests. This academic struggle is compounded by the advanced material she is expected to learn, as well as her actual age being younger than she claims.

Lack of Control Over Telepathy:Anya has limited control over her telepathic powers, often leading her to involuntarily pick up on the thoughts of those around her. This lack of control can be overwhelming and disorienting.

Sensitivity to Crowds:Anya experiences dizziness and exhaustion in large crowds, which can result in nosebleeds due to her uncontrollable ability to read the thoughts of many people simultaneously.

Physical Abilities:Reflecting her young age, Anya has significant difficulty with physical activities. She tires easily, has poor coordination, and struggles with low strength, often failing to throw a ball correctly despiteYor‘s attempts to train her. Her challenges extend to various sports, including tennis, jump rope, swimming, and vaulting. However, over time, she has shown slight improvement; Loid reports that she can now jump over two vaulting boxes and skip rope five times in a row. Additionally, her throwing ability has improved, as she successfully threwYor‘s stiletto from one floor to another.

Relationships

Family

Loid Forger

Loid is Anya’s adoptive father, whom she admires greatly. She is aware of his secret life as a spy, thanks to her telepathic ability, but she keeps this knowledge to herself. Anya is eager to help Loid succeed in his missions, though her childlike understanding sometimes leads to comical misunderstandings. Despite the circumstances of her adoption being part of Loid’s mission, their bond has grown deeper, with Loid becoming genuinely protective of Anya, while Anya looks up to him as her strong and caring father.

Yor Forger

Yor is Anya’s adoptive mother, though she too is unaware of Anya’s telepathic abilities. Anya quickly forms a close bond with Yor, finding comfort in her presence and admiring her strength, even though she is unaware of Yor’s secret identity as an assassin. Anya sees Yor as a loving and dependable mother figure, and she values Yor’s protective nature, especially in situations where her mother’s combat skills come into play. Their relationship is built on mutual care and warmth.

Bond Forger

Bond is the Forger family’s dog, and Anya shares a special connection with him due to both of their unique abilities—Bond can see into the future, while Anya can read minds. Anya often uses Bond’s foresight to help her in tricky situations, particularly when it involves helping her father with his mission. Bond is more than just a pet to Anya; he’s a trusted companion and a partner in her little adventures.

Yuri Briar

Yuri is Yor’s younger brother and, while he is protective of Yor, he also shows a soft spot for Anya. Anya, in turn, is curious about Yuri and his relationship with her mother, though she finds his intense affection for Yor both amusing and a bit strange. Since Yuri is suspicious of Loid, Anya must be careful in her interactions with him, balancing her own childish antics with the need to protect her father’s secret.

Eden Academy

Henry Henderson

Henry is one of the teachers at Eden Academy, and Anya respects him as a figure of authority, though her mischievous nature sometimes clashes with his strict sense of “elegance.” Anya is aware of his efforts to maintain order and sophistication at the academy, and while she may not always meet his high expectations, she tries her best to navigate his rules in her own way.

Becky Blackbell

Becky is Anya’s closest friend at Eden Academy. The two girls quickly bond over their shared experiences at school, and Becky often looks out for Anya, especially when it comes to social situations. Their friendship is strong, with Becky frequently giving Anya advice, though Anya sometimes finds herself distracted by her own unique concerns. Despite their different backgrounds, they share a loyal and supportive friendship.

Damian Desmond

Damian is the son of Donovan Desmond, the target of Loid’s mission, which makes him a key figure in Anya’s life. Anya is initially at odds with Damian due to a misunderstanding, but she later tries to become his friend as part of her father’s mission. Although Damian harbors a secret crush on Anya, their interactions are often marked by tension and confusion. Anya, for her part, is more focused on fulfilling her role in her father’s mission, though she does become more empathetic toward Damian over time.

Ewen Egeburg

Ewen is one of Damian’s close friends and a classmate of Anya at Eden Academy. While Ewen is more of a follower in Damian’s social circle, Anya interacts with him occasionally, usually when he’s backing up Damian. Ewen, like Damian, represents another challenge for Anya as she tries to navigate her complex school life.

Other

Franky Franklin

Franky is Loid’s informant and often spends time with Anya when visiting the Forger family. Anya finds Franky amusing and enjoys his playful, less serious attitude. Franky occasionally helps Anya with her small missions or gives her advice (though not always the most reliable). Their relationship is friendly, and Anya sees Franky as a fun, older friend figure.

Fiona Frost

Fiona is a fellow WISE agent and admires Loid greatly, seeing herself as a better fit for him than Yor. Anya, using her telepathy, is aware of Fiona’s feelings for Loid, which makes her wary of Fiona. Anya doesn’t fully understand Fiona’s motives but senses that she represents some form of rivalry with her mother, making their interactions subtly tense.

Martha Marriott

Martha is Becky Blackbell’s personal assistant and caretaker. Though she doesn’t interact directly with Anya often, Martha’s role as Becky’s protector and guide makes her a respected figure in Anya’s eyes. Anya acknowledges her presence when she spends time with Becky, but their relationship remains distant and formal.

Sigmund Authen

Sigmund is a figure from Eden Academy’s administration, and though he doesn’t play a major role in Anya’s personal life, his presence at the academy represents the authority and expectations she must navigate. Anya doesn’t interact with Sigmund directly, but she’s aware of his influence within the school’s operations.
