— Jibril
|
Appearance
Jibril’s appearance.
Jibril possesses long, flowing hair that blends shades of purple and pink, cascading down to her knees. Two elegant white wings emerge near her hips, adding to her ethereal presence. Her striking purple pupils are framed by golden irises, and when she concentrates—such as when casting a spell—a cross shape appears within her pupils, emphasizing her focus.
Her ears resemble delicate wings, and a halo floats gracefully above her head, further accentuating her celestial nature. Jibril typically dons an outfit that exposes her midriff and features a long skirt, showcasing her slim yet well-endowed figure. Although she has the physique of a 17 to 18-year-old, her true age is significantly greater. After executing her ultimate attack, the magic recoil causes her appearance to revert to that of a young girl. Her measurements are 88-55-85.
Personality
Jibril presents herself as soft-spoken and courteous, yet she can exhibit a deeply condescending attitude toward other races in the Ixseed hierarchy. This is evident in her interactions, such as when she indirectly insults Stephanie Dola or when she refuses to apologize to Fiel Nirvalen for causing chaos. When ordered to lick Fiel’s feet, she defiantly refuses, deeming it beneath her to submit to a “mere” Elf.
Her insatiable thirst for knowledge drives her excitement at the prospect of learning new things, exemplified by her awe over Sora’s tablet, which contained a wealth of information. Despite her initial haughtiness, Jibril possesses a strong sense of honor in gameplay, abhorring cheating and valuing fair competition. She often reminisces about the “good old days” before the oaths were established, a time when conflicts could be resolved through violence, revealing a hint of her sadistic tendencies.
Jibril is also highly perceptive, able to uncover complex weaknesses in Elven strategies that elude her peers and intuit Stephanie’s feelings for Sora. Unlike Stephanie, Jibril fully embraces her role as a servant to Sora and Shiro, addressing them both as “Master.” Throughout the anime and light novel, her feelings for Sora deepen, despite her initial claims that she is not supposed to experience love.
Jibril’s happy expression.
In Episode 10, Jibril contemplates her humiliation after licking Fiel’s foot but finds excitement in interpreting it as an order from Sora, questioning whether this could be considered love—a thought interrupted by Sora himself. In Light Novel Volume 4, she even expresses a desire to merge a part of Sora’s soul with her own, indicating a willingness to bear his child. Later, in Volume 5, she confesses to Sora that she has come to understand love from her perspective and has indeed fallen for him.
Jibril also reveals a masochistic side; after licking Fiel’s feet, she refers to it as the biggest humiliation of her life, yet her excitement grows when she considers it a command from Sora. In Volume 5, she requests Sora to dismiss her as a useless being, feeling ecstatic at the prospect.
Additionally, like the rest of the Flügel race, Jibril possesses a bloodthirsty nature. When not engaged in battle, she can become bored and has been known to collect severed heads as trophies, highlighting her dark and dangerous inclinations.
Background
Jibril is the last and most powerful Flügel, created by the Old Deus Artosh, and served him faithfully until his demise. As the “Exceptional Unit,” designed to address the paradox of strength and weakness, she was endowed with the gift of “imperfection,” which compelled her to challenge norms constantly. Her tendency to take daring risks and confront foes far beyond her strength often necessitated the Rite of Restoration to regain her power. According to Azril, she utilized this rite 116 times out of the 245 campaigns in which she participated.
During the Great War, Jibril encountered a powerful attack known as the Ja La Anse rite, cast by Think Nirvalen, which sent her crashing from the sky near the Elven capital of Mellyrn. In retaliation, she unleashed her devastating Heavenly Smite, obliterating the capital and, in the process, reverting to a childlike state for five years. Following this catastrophic event, Jibril seized all the books from the Elven Library, despite the Elves’ desperate attempts to protect their knowledge. The loss of such a vast collection severely hampered Elven magical development, causing a setback that Fiel Nirvalen estimated would take over 800 years to recover from.
At some point during the Great War, while on one of her solo campaigns, Jibril crossed paths with an Ex-Machina named Schwi. At the time, Ex-Machina heads were rare treasures among the Flügel, as there was an unspoken rule against provoking them. However, confident in her abilities, Jibril engaged Schwi. Despite her formidable efforts, Jibril ultimately defeated and killed Schwi, but not without consequence; she was forced to use Heaven’s Strike, which depleted all her magical powers.
After Artosh’s defeat and the conclusion of the war, Jibril resided in the Flügel city of Avant Heim for a period. However, with the introduction of the Book-Sharing Law, she found herself at odds with its principles and chose to leave, unwilling to see her precious books shared indiscriminately. Shortly thereafter, she challenged the King of Immanity for the rights to his library, a challenge she easily won. Jibril continued to guard her library until she was confronted by Sora and Shiro, who challenged her to a game of Materialization Shiritori. Following her defeat, she pledged her very existence to Sora and Shiro. Although they did not demand her servitude, Jibril willingly accepted them as her new masters, effectively replacing Artosh.
Following this, Jibril accompanied Sora and Shiro on their quest to reach Tet, the One True God. Her adventures included aiding them in acquiring the Werebeast nation, Dhampir, and the Siren Nation, as well as returning to her homeland, Avant Heim. Throughout their journey, she diligently documented their exploits in her own book.
Abilities
Strengths
As the final unit and most powerful member of the Flügel race, Jibril possesses immense strength. Azril noted that if she were to assist Sora and Shiro in a game of tag against 100 other Flügel, the con would hardly be competitive. Although her full capabilities (excluding her ultimate attack, Heavenly Smite) remain largely unknown, parting a pathway through the sea to Oceando represents merely 5% of her strength. Jibril has also shown remarkable resilience, surviving a close blast from a hydrogen bomb without injury. Her speed is extraordinary; she can move, maneuver, and react thousands of times faster than sound. Moreover, her senses are unparalleled—she could identify and lock onto the Elven base from miles above, even in the dark and amid smoke.
As a Flügel, Jibril is immortal, boasting an infinite lifespan. She is immune to diseases, illnesses, toxins, and physical or mental interference. This immortality ensures she remains in her prime indefinitely and makes her virtually invulnerable to harm. For example, when shot by Elven arrows, she only deviated from her flight path but sustained no significant injuries. Even if injured, her regenerative abilities allow her to recover from any harm. Jibril’s immortality, invulnerability, and regenerative capabilities surpass those of any other Flügel.
Jibril possesses a limitless intellectual capacity, excelling in memory, calculation, learning, creativity, and more. This remarkable intellect is evident in the Flügel’s ability to “steal” knowledge following the establishment of the Ten Pledges, an alternative to their former practice of collecting heads. Jibril’s mental prowess allows her to perform multiple cognitive functions simultaneously without losing focus. She can instantly recall specific information with incredible speed and accuracy, storing her experiences for immediate retrieval. This rapid thought processing enhances her analytical skills, enabling her to make swift decisions and create complex strategies in real-time. Jibril can multitask effectively, simultaneously replaying past events, engaging in games, and battling opponents without distraction. She has claimed the ability to understand and communicate in all languages, thanks to her vast knowledge acquired over millennia.
In addition to her intellectual capabilities, Jibril is a highly skilled mage, capable of using spells to teleport herself, Sora, Shiro, and Stephanie to any location she can see or has previously visited. She can also phase through walls at will. One of her most devastating abilities is “Heavenly Smite,” which annihilated the Elven capital Mellyrn, though using it once resulted in a five-year magic power depletion. In Light Novel Volume 5, she employs this power again without suffering any recoil, as she was in an illusionary realm where her magic was unlimited.
As the final unit of the Flügel, Jibril has the potential to defeat formidable foes such as Gigants, Dragonias, and Phantasmas during solo campaigns. However, her success rate has been limited, with only three out of ninety attempts resulting in victory.
Weaknesses
Jibril’s Flügel nature leads her to dismiss other races as inferior, fostering an overconfidence in her own knowledge. This arrogance can cause her to underestimate potential threats, as demonstrated in her game against Sora and Shiro. Even after deducing that they were not from Disboard, she regarded them with disdain, intrigued yet scornful.
Sora pointed out that Jibril’s loss in Materialization Shiritori stemmed from her arrogance. For instance, she could have won the game on the first turn when Sora and Shiro invoked a hydrogen bomb, but chose to shield them from the explosion, believing it would be more entertaining.
Jibril’s insatiable curiosity makes her eager to learn or discover new knowledge. This trait can be exploited, as she may be bribed with knowledge in exchange for information she lacks, although finding gaps in her extensive understanding is a challenge after thousands of years of learning.
Whenever Jibril uses Heavenly Smite, her body temporarily regresses to that of a young girl. Additionally, as shown during Materialization Shiritori, she cannot survive a hypernova, an explosion with temperatures exceeding 50 billion degrees Celsius.
