Cattleya’s overall appearance.

Cattleya Baudelaire is characterized by her intense and passionate emotions, balancing both strength and femininity. Despite her confident demeanor, she is often sensitive and self-conscious, particularly when it comes to her appeal toward Hodgins. A skilled Auto Memories Doll, she is experienced in matters of love, making her the preferred choice for clients dealing with romantic troubles. She deeply values love in all its forms—romantic, platonic, fraternal, and companionate—believing that love is essential for a fulfilling life. However, Cattleya admits that while she understands the concept of love, especially when it occurs, she finds romantic love to be uncertain and complex.

Cattleya also has a playful, sassy side and enjoys teasing others, particularly Hodgins, though her behavior is always good-natured. Her straightforwardness can be seen in her interactions with him, as well as in her playful rivalry with Benedict, with whom she frequently argues. Although she carries herself with pride, she dislikes casual physical contact and feels uncomfortable when left alone, fearing it diminishes her charm. Despite her self-confidence, she remains humble, not viewing herself as someone who naturally attracts others.

Mature and composed, Cattleya is known for her politeness and soft-spoken nature, rarely raising her voice or being easily provoked. She is not afraid, however, to voice her opinions or reprimand others when necessary. Her physical strength is notable, and she often relies on it to solve problems, having confidence in her abilities. Although she presents herself as a poised adult, she can display a more childish and candid side, particularly around Hodgins. She occasionally acts like a child when things don’t go her way and enjoys receiving praise for her efforts. Despite this, she is a reliable figure who enjoys supporting others and giving advice. Cattleya often describes herself as having an “older-sister” presence, which she embraces.

History

Cattleya Baudelaire has revealed that she experienced a difficult upbringing, describing her parents as terrible, which led her to run away from home. Following this, she was taken in by Hodgins, though she endured periods of loneliness due to her lack of acquaintances. Over time, Cattleya became an integral part of the CH Postal Company, where she eventually rose to prominence as the most sought-after Auto Memories Doll.

Relationships

Claudia Hodgins

Cattleya has a long-standing and close relationship with Claudia Hodgins, her employer at the CH Postal Company. Hodgins took Cattleya in after she ran away from home, fostering a deep sense of fondness and gratitude toward him. She has expressed being drawn to Hodgins, comparing her attraction to that of a butterfly to honey. Despite this, she is straightforward with him and enjoys teasing him about his given name. Cattleya is also aware of Hodgins’ insensitivity toward women’s emotions and is not hesitant to scold him when necessary. Their relationship, however, is built on mutual trust and respect, demonstrated by Hodgins confiding in Cattleya about his best friend Gilbert’s fate. She enjoys spending time with him, feeling disappointment when she cannot accompany him to events, and values his praise and recognition. Cattleya also recognizes Hodgins’ charismatic nature, though she acknowledges that she herself does not possess the same magnetic charm.

Benedict Blue

Cattleya and Benedict are colleagues at the CH Postal Company, having both joined as early employees. From the outset, they have maintained a competitive and sometimes antagonistic relationship, frequently engaging in arguments and teasing. While the root of their rivalry remains unclear, Cattleya often expresses her frustration with Benedict, even claiming that she has to restrain herself from physically hitting him during their confrontations. Despite their constant bickering, there are moments of mutual respect and care between them. Cattleya trusts in Benedict’s leadership and combat abilities, and she has been seen tending to his injuries. Although their interactions are often tense, Cattleya’s feelings toward Benedict may be more complex, as she finds comfort in his presence during difficult moments, even when he uses ironic remarks to ease her sadness.

Violet Evergarden

From the time Violet began working at the CH Postal Company, Cattleya has shown warmth and friendliness toward her, despite Violet’s initial struggles as an Auto Memories Doll. She has been supportive of Violet’s growth and accomplishments and often teases her in a lighthearted manner. Cattleya sees Violet as an intriguing and enigmatic figure, though she also recognizes her softer, more human qualities. Although Cattleya is unaware of the full details of Violet’s past, she treats her as she is—a teenage girl—offering advice and teaching her about the concept of love. Cattleya is also considerate of Violet’s emotions, particularly when Violet learned about Gilbert’s fate. Cattleya expressed her anger toward Hodgins for revealing the truth to Violet without adequately preparing her. She later visited Violet at her home, cooking for her and providing comfort during her emotional distress. Over time, Cattleya has come to regard Violet as a good friend and holds deep respect for her abilities as a Doll, recognizing her as both capable and compassionate.

Abilities

Strength and Martial Arts

Cattleya is a former martial artist with significant self-defense skills. She can easily subdue individuals who give her unwanted attention, utilizing feigned weakness and swift, precise movements to incapacitate her opponents. Her physical strength is formidable, to the extent that Hodgins is more concerned for her opponents than for Cattleya herself. This is notably demonstrated when she uses only her legs—despite claiming they aren’t as strong as her fists—to cause substantial harm. While skilled with both her fists and feet, she is particularly proficient in hand-to-hand combat.

Typing

As an Auto Memories Doll, Cattleya has developed exceptional skills in typing and letter writing, making her one of the most sought-after Dolls at the CH Postal Company. Her ability to empathize with clients, particularly those experiencing romantic difficulties, allows her to accurately capture and convey their emotions in writing. Cattleya possesses a strong vocabulary, impeccable timing, and the ability to write at a rapid pace. Her talent in this field is demonstrated by her assignment to the critical task of drafting letters on behalf of Prince Damian to Princess Charlotte, a testament to her high level of expertise.
